WHAT IS KANBAN?
“Kanban is a scheduling system for lean manufacturing and
just-in-time manufacturing. Taiichi Ohno, an industrial
engineer at Toyota, developed kanban to improve
manufacturing efficiency. Kanban is one method to achieve
JIT. The system takes its name from the cards that track
production within a factory.” Wikipedia

WHAT DOESTHAT MEAN?
Kanban is a highly visual work management method, and is based on
three basic principles:
Visualise the process
Limit work in progress (WiP)
Enhance Flow

BASICS OF A KANBAN BOARD
Little’s Law: Lead time = #items in system / throughput rate
Halve your WiP, halve your time

An autistic person may have difficulties with:
• processing information
• predicting the consequences of an action
(if I do this, what will happen next?)
• understanding the concept of time
• 'executive function'
(ie a person may be detail-focused and less able to see the whole
picture).
