THESTUDENt
I am Lovely Fe P.
Preciado, 19 years of
existence, currently
living in Basdiot
Moalboal, Cebu. A
third year student of
Cebu Technological
University Moalboal
Cebu , taking up the
course in Bachelor of
Secondary Education
Major in Home
Economics
Technology.
Introduction
They say that computer technology is a
destruction in learning. Computer technology
and Internet is very useful in transforming the
traditional classroom into a learner-centered
one. As a matter of fact, students nowadays are
being dependent on technologies and gadgets,
so I conclude that the best way to learn about
something is the integration of technology in
learning.
OVERVIEW OF EDUCATIONAL
TECHNOLOGY
A field study which is concerned with the
practice of using educational methods and
resources. It involved in applying a complex,
integrated process to analyze and solve
problems in human learning. It consist of a
designs and environments that engage
learners.
LEARNING THROUGH EDUCATIONAL
TECHNOLOGY 1 AND 2
EducationalTechnology?
What is EducationalTechnology?
 Educational technology is a complex, integrated
process involving people, procedures, ideas, devices and
organization for analyzing problems and devising,
implementing, evaluating and managing solutions to
those problems involved in all aspects of human
learning.
Technology: Boon or Bane?
Is technology a boon or a bane? A blessing
or a curse to education ?
 Technology is a blessing for man. With technology,
there is a lot that we can do which we could not do
then. With cellphones, webcam, you will be closer
to someone miles and miles away. However, when
not used properly, technology becomes a
detriment to learning and development. It can
destroy relationships. The abuse and misuse of the
Internet will have far reaching unfavorable effects
on human’s moral life.
THEROLESOFEDUCATIONALTECHNOLOYIN
TEACHING
TECHNOLOGY
 Traditional Way
-Technology serves as source and presenter of
knowledge.
 Constructivist Way
-Technology serves as a learning tools to
learn with.
ROLES OF TECHNOLOGY IN LEARNING
1. Technology as tools to support knowledge
construction:
- For producing organized, multimedia
knowledge bases by learners.
2. Technology as information vehicles for
exploring knowledge to support learning-by-
constructing:
- For accessing needed information.
-For comparing perspectives, beliefs and world
views
3. Technology as context to support learning-by-doing:
- For representing and simulating meaningful real-world
problems, situations and contexts.
- For defining as a safe, controllable problem space for
student thinking.
4. Technology as a social medium to support learning by
conversing:
- For discussing, arguing and building consensus among
members of a community.
- For collaborating with others.
5. Technology as intellectual partner to support learning-by-
reflecting:
- For helping what learners to articulate and represent
what they know.
- For reflecting on what they have learned and how they
came to know it.
When used effectively, research indicates that
technology:
1. Augments motivation to learn;
2. Encourages collaborative learning;
3. Supports the development of critical
thinking skills; and
4. Supports the development of problem
solving skills
SYSTEMATICAPPROACHTOTEACHING
1. Define Objective (DO)
- Setting of a specific goal that needs to be achieved
3 Things to consider in making an objective
R- Readiness
I – Interest
N – Needs
5 Characteristics of an Objective
S- specific
M- measurable
A – Attainable
R – Realistic/Result Oriented
T- Time Bounded
3 Learning Domains that must be considered in making an Objective:
C- cognitive Domain
A- affective Domain
P – psychomotor Domain
2. Choose Appropriate Method (CAM)
- Selecting the appropriate methods of teaching including the
strategies and techniques that you will use.
3. Choose Appropriate Experience (CAE)
- Selecting the appropriate experience for the students.
4. Selecting Materials, Equipment and Facilities (SMEF)
- Selecting the best instructional material to achieved the best
learning outcome.
5. Assign Personnel Roles (APR)
- Assigning or delegating task to the person in charge to help
you meet your objective.
6. Implement The Instruction (ITI)
- Applications of all the things you planned and
prepared in order to meet your objective
7. Evaluate Outcomes (EO)
- Evaluating the outcome of the discussion for us
to know if our objective is achieved or not.
8. Refine the Process (RP)
- It is a process where if the students passed the
evaluation and you achieved your objective then
you can proceed to the new lesson and if the
objective is not met or achieved then you will again
go back to the process.
CONEOFEXPERIENCEBYEDGARDALE
EducationalTechnology2
 To qualify instruction is improved to a higher
level thinking that could not have been
achieved without educational technology.
 To integrate technology in teaching.
THE ROLE OF IT IN EDUCATIONAL
TECHNOLOGY
Traditional Learning
Model
1. Teacher is expert and
information provider.
2. Teacher is key source of
information.
3. Focus on facts and
information is packaged
in net.
4. The product is the be-all
and end-all of learning.
5. Assessment is
quantitative.
Resource-Based Learning
Model
1. Teacher is a guide and
facilitator.
2. Source are varied.
3. Focus on learning
enquiry/quest/discovery.
4. Emphasis of process.
5. Assessment is
quantitative.
UseofTechnologyinTeaching-Learning
Process
“We need t3echnology in every classroom and in
every student and teacher’s hand, because it is
the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens
through which we experience much of our world”
- David Warlick -
 Constructivism
-Is a theory of knowledge that argues that humans generate knowledge
and meaning from an interaction between their experiences and their
ideas.
 Generative Learning
- Style of learning that incorporates existing knowledge with new ideas
based on experimentation and open-mindedness.
 Discovery Learning
- Is an active process of inquiry-based instruction that encourages
learners to build on prior knowledge through experience and to search
for new information and relationships based on their interests.
 Meaningful Learning
- Meaningful learning refers to the concept that the learned knowledge
is fully understood by the individual and that the individual knows how
that specific fact relates to other stored facts.
Teacher’s Role Student’s Role
 Insure that students have the
needed knowledge and skills
for any computer activity.
 Decide the appropriate
learning objectives.
 Plan the sequential and
structured activities to
achieve objectives.
 Evaluate the student’s
achievement by ways of tests
the specific expected
outcomes.
 Receive Information
 Understand instruction for
computer activity.
 Keep in mind the
information and rules for
the computer activity.
 Apply the knowledge and
rules during the process of
computer learning.
 Act as sort of tutor.
 Provides a learning environment.
 Reinforces learning through drill and practice.
 Provides feedback
Teachers have to keep up:
 Technology Literacy
 Media Literacy
 Online Communication
 InternetTools
The subject has lend me to understand that
the technological advancement of the 21st
century learner has a positive implication for the
teaching and learning process while changes in
behaviour has resulted in strict policies being
implemented to limit the behaviour of the
students.
