4. An Overview of
Educational Technology 2
• If Educational Technology 1 is about presenting
new technology to learners, EDTC 2 is more on
the application of the different modern
educational media presented from the previous
subject. This is wherein learners can be more
aware, appreciate ore, and be fully equipped to
use different technology tools ranging from
traditional to modern educational media.
5. • Educational Technology as I see it, seems to
encourage educators as well as learners to
combine education and technology. Educators
can use technology in providing knowledge and
skills to learners.
• A teacher can also integrate technology in
engaging students to have an IT classrooms
(internet usage, etc.). Technology is not just
merely talking about computers, but all modern
media available to us today and computer is only
one of these.
An Overview of
Educational Technology 2
6. • "Integrating technology with teaching means the
use of learning technologies to introduce,
reinforce, supplement and extend skills... the
difference between the classrooms of exemplary
users of technology and technology users is the
way their classes are conducted. In the
exemplary classrooms, student use of computers
is woven integrally into the patterns of teaching;
software is a natural extension of student tools"
(Pisapia, 1994)

Instruction
7. • Following this definition, there is NO
INTEGRATIVE PROCESS if for example the
teacher makes students play computer games to
give them a rest period during classes. Neither is
there integration if the teacher merely teaches
students computer skills. in the first place, the
teachers of general or special subjects are not
computer technicians or computer trainers.

8. If one is looking for external manifestations
of technology integration into instruction, here are
some:
- There's a change in the way classes are
traditionally conducted.
- The quality of instruction is improved to a higher
level in such a way that could not have been
achieved without educational technology.
- There is planning by the teacher on the process of
determining how and when technology fits into the
teaching-learning process.

Instruction
9. - The teacher sets instructional strategies to address
specific instructional issues/ problems.
- In sum, technology occupies a position (is a
simple or complex way) in the instructional
process.

10. • Educators today have become more aware and active
in adopting state-of-the-Art educational technology
practices that they can possibly adopt. Today, one can
see a greater need for teachers to acquire not only
computer literacy, but competence as well. The list of
audio-visual aids available to or schools may not even
apply any more since modern-day computer hardware-
software has rendered them obsolete. Recent changes
have also occurred in the area of pedagogical theory
and practices. It is now accepted that the contribution
of the computer to pedagogy makes up for “good
instruction.”

B. State-of-the-Art ET Application Practices
11. • In sum, these trends and new levels of learning
require the appropriate use of the state-of-the-art
instruction with the use of IT. But, some
speculation arise that there is an obstacle to IT
pedagogical practice especially for educators
living in developing or peasant economies,
objectives are likely to be heard such as that the
use of the computer is time consuming and
expensive. Besides there is also the danger of a
technology-centered classroom along the fear
that computers may soon replace teachers.

12. • Both education and learning are lifetime processes,
they have no limit on when to start and stop. In our
daily lives we learn new things and this helps us in
changing the way we leave. Education provides us
with information, and then we have to learn and
process this information for our own use. It is very
important to make education accessible at any time
by every one; this will help in reducing on the level
of illiteracy.
The Role of Information Technology
in Educational Technology
13. • Information has the ability of speeding up
information delivery, so this ability can be used in
improving our education environment. With the
implementation of Information Technology, costs of
accessing educational material are cut down and it
makes it easy for students to learn from anywhere.
• New technologies are changing the way we learn
and they have also changed the process of teaching.
Both teachers and students are using these new
educational technologies to archive specific
academic goals.
The Role of Information Technology
in Educational Technology
14. • The only challenge is that Information Technology
comes at a cost, so those who cannot afford the
price tend to have difficulties to benefit from the
opportunities of Information Technology in
education. For example; the increased use of
Internet broadband makes it easy for students to
access academic information on time. Also teachers
use this broadband Internet to created and deliver
academic data using videos and graphic
illustrations.
The Role of Information Technology
in Educational Technology
15. Plenty of Educational Resources: Information
technology makes it easy to access academic
information at any time. Both students and teachers use
Information technology to acquire and exchange
educational material.
Full Time learning: Unlike in the past when learning
was limited to a physical classroom, students and
teachers could only access academic information while
at school. Today, all that has changed, a student will
access information at any given time of the day. It does
not matter where they are or the time of the day is.
The Role of Information Technology
in Educational Technology
16. Instant Access to Educational
Information: Information technology speeds the
transfer and distribution of information. Students can
easily access academic data using computers and new
technologies like mobile phone application. IT experts
have coded educational applications, which can be
used by students to access information very fast.
These mobile phone applications are replacing some
old methods like borrowing of books in libraries, now
days students can use e-books which they can read
anytime and anywhere.
The Role of Information Technology
in Educational Technology
17. Group Learning: Information technology has helped
students learn in groups and it has also helped
teachers teach students in groups. Now with
information technology, schools have created
academic forums, where students can discuss about a
specific topic with no fear of expression. They can
also engage in video and text chatting.
Long Distance learning: Information technology
enables students across the globe to study from
anywhere through online education.
The Role of Information Technology
in Educational Technology
18. Use of Audio – Visual: Information technology has
changed the way we learn and interpret information.
The use of audio-visual education helps students learn
faster and easily. Visual illustration using images on
projectors helps a student understand the concept,
because some of these images are interesting and they
look familiar to a student. Our brains tend to
remember visual illustrations easily more than text.
The Role of Information Technology
in Educational Technology
22. • The art of teaching in the new era, which is
associated with technology, is design to combat
the ineffectiveness of some teaching pedagogy in
present times. To consider the purpose of teaching,
here comes the new indorse strategy, which is
useful as a partner in lesson planning. Since
educational technology is already imposed in the
new curriculum, teachers with less training must
adopt and acquire the state of the art of
educational technology.
23. • 21st century learners demand and wish to engage
for every learning activity in classroom setting.
And if teachers cannot guarantee the demand of
his/her students, this will result to backwardness
and revision of assessment due to
unimplemented lesson plan. Educational
technology is proven to provide an interactive
discussion; therefore, these must be applied to
teaching pedagogy.
24. • Integrating technology to instruction, for me,
is a big jump from the traditional way of
instruction. The use of computer and other
multimedia equipment is a big help for the
teachers but they should know on how to
integrate technology to instruction.
Technology can hamper the learning process if
the teacher itself cannot fully utilize
technology correctly. Additionally, the use of
technology must be related to the topic or
discussion, otherwise it will turn out into a big
problem.
26. As we all know, kids nowadays are very
engaged in using gadgets and technologies. This
is the 21st century; they are the 21st century
learners.
As a future educator, I’ll be their guide on
how to properly use the technology, advice them
that technology is just a tool and make them
smart and creative in the sense that they will use
computers/tablets in making a certain project.
27. Nowadays, using of PowerPoint Presentation is very
rampant in classrooms, instead of chalk and talk method.
But, after learning all the contents in the Educational
Technology, you’ll realize that many applications can also
be used such as Movie Maker, Prezi and many other more.
You can also integrate Information and
Communication Technology (ICT). If you can’t bring your
students into certain places that costs them too much, why
not bring the place into your classroom? Have them ready
the materials they will be needing in a real fieldtrip. This
will be called as your Virtual Classroom.
Remember there is no limitations in imagining and
being creative. You just have to be innovative at all times.
28. “Technology is just a tool.
In terms of getting
the kids working together
and motivating them,
the TEACHER is the
most important.”
-Bill Gates
