with professional rugby, netball, golf,
hockey and cricket action clinics! Kids will
also learn fundamental sport and training
skills that are easily transferable to the home
environment. This is achieved through max-
imum ball-in-hand movements, expert
coaching and skills challenges. Parents also
get take-home programmes to equip them in
supporting their child’s training at home
- no BSc required! A healthy mind needs a
healthy body!
The Cape Argus SportShow summit is specially
targeted towards parents of high school
learners and will focus on a number of sport
related topics presented by top industry
professionals and sporting celebrities.
This larger exhibition will offer unbelievable

The Cape Argus SportShow 2017 will again
be hosted at Sandringham, Cape Town the
premier outdoor exhibition location in the

Schools Sport Summit
Following the very successful Schools
Sport Summit held in Cape Town in 2016,
the third Schools Sport Summit will coincide
with the Cape Argus SportShow 2017. Some
350 delegates from more than 120 South
African schools, consisting of school princi-
pals, coaches and heads of sport, will
attend this Summit. The Summit aims to bring
together leading minds, parents, educators
and key role-players to discuss crucial topics
impacting the South African school sport
scene. These topics include the role sport
plays in educating children, the impact
sport has on the lives of children and expert
comments and case studies that can be
utilised in the South African context to guide
schools towards best practice in sport. The
Summit’s expert panel of speakers will help
inform, motivate and challenge the way
forward for youth sport. Limited space is
available for parents and interested parties.

BMX & SKATEBOARD PARK
The inaugural Cape Argus SportShow featured the country’s most
skilled riders on BMX bikes, MTB bikes, trail bikes, scooters, roller-
blades and skateboards - in spectacular, non-stop, action-packed
shows that thrilled and amazed spectators.
The Cape Argus SportShow hosts a wide variety of thrilling and informative activities
and events, aimed at all levels of sport enthusiasts. In 2016, the event featured amongst
others, the Jetman Dubai jetpack athlete team, the slam dunk basketball team, Lords of
Gravity, FMX Freestyle shows with ‘Sick’ Nick de Wit, Riaan Manser Extreme Speaker Box
sport celebrities and many interactive sport clinics and exhibitions.
Some of these activations and events will be featured again in 2017 but with much more
interactive activities and events for all ages. This is your chance to be part of a wide
range of exciting and entertaining events.

4. TAG RUGBY TOURNAMENT
Tag Rugby®, a non-contact form of rugby where a tackle is made by
pulling a tag off the belt or shorts of the opponent who has the ball,
will be presented for the first time at the Cape Argus SportShow
2017. This game is fast, fun, great for social or corporate team
building and is suitable for boys, girls, men and women of all ages.
At the Cape Argus SportShow a number of activities will be
hosted, including a Youth Tag Rugby® clinic, a mini tournament
for the juniors as well as something for the grown-ups in the form
of a Supercharged Adult Tag Rugby ® Tournament and a Mixed
(women and men) Tournament. Teams can be entered in all the
tournaments. Great prizes and loads of giveaways will be up
for grabs!
The success of Gary Kirsten’s coaching approach has been
well documented. He is an extremely popular person and
his coaching Academy is constantly assisting coaches and
players all over the world. He and his coaches will be at the
Cape Argus SportShow to assist selected young players on
improving their batting, bowling and fielding techniques.
This is going to be a very popular attraction at the 2017 Cape
Argus SportShow.

Free diving is the sport of holding your breath for as long, as
far, or as deep as possible... without any scuba equipment.
Based on age-old traditions of subsistence living off the sea, free
diving today is a high-profile competitive sport with world

African Free dive record holder and founder of I AM WATER Ocean
Conservation, Hanli Prinsloo and her team will be hosting exclusive
in-water breath-hold coaching sessions and demonstrations.

participating. Check how BOUNCE’s Extreme Team defies the rules
of gravity in a trampoline showcase never seen before as they take on
the Great Wall, slam dunk like basketball professionals while mixing it
up with the BOUNCE parkour and dancing crew. The Bounce Extreme
Team is sure to have you holding your breath as you watch them flip
themselves into the air and literally BOUNCE off the walls. BOUNCE - it’s

5. HOCKEY FIVES
The game is fast and fun and players’ skills levels improve
quickly whilst playing this game. HOCKEY FIVES The International
Hockey Federation see this action packed version of the game as the
T20 for hockey. The field is surrounded by boards and this means the
ball rarely goes out. Players and goalkeepers have to be alert and fit
to play this game. It is believed that SA Hockey will be focusing on this
fast fun game to grow the game in South Africa.
NETBALL
Netball is a firm favourite at most high schools. The Cape Argus
SportShow is introducing an annual Netball Tournament in 2017.

Professional Skills Clinics will be presented by top professional
athletes and sports celebrities, for rugby, netball, golf,
hockey and cricket. The Skills Clinics are aimed at fundamental
sport skills develop- ment, focusing on the introduction and
masteryofsportskillsinafunlearningenvironment.Thisisachieved
through maximum ball in hand movements, expert coaching, skills
challenges and take home programmes. The take home
programmes will show the parent how to help the child train
at home without parents requiring a Sport Science degree.

BRYAN CAPPER & DYLAN VICTOR-
The Extreme Sports Shows is proud to present Man vs Machine, an
extreme stunt show that promises to amaze visitors. Five-times
national trials bike champion, Dylan Victor, and multiple national
champion and motorcycle trials legend, Brian Capper, are going head
to head in an epic battle.
In a pedal-power versus petrol-power smackdown, the Extreme
Sports Shows presents Man vs Machine. Dylan Victor on his trials
bike, will take on the best in ‘machine-power’, Brian Capper on his
motorcycle. They’ll be ramping over 3m-high obstacles on one wheel,
jumping over brave volunteers from the crowd, climbing up ladders,
and doing the kind of stunts no ordinary person would dare attempt
on two wheels.

6. PUMP TRACK -
Try something new! Pump tracks bring people of all ages and skill
levels together in an intimate and active environment. The Cape
Argus SportShow’s pump track is a new kind of structure where
the riders use an up and down ‘pumping’ motion to propel the
bicycle, scooter or skateboard forward instead of pedaling. Pump
tracks are perfect structures for practicing balance, learning
skills and improving confidence, not to mention a great, full body
workout! Pump tracks are for everyone and bridge the generation gap
between adults, small children, adolescents and even the elderly.
