A man calls his daughter Lucy to tell her he won't be coming home and doesn't know when he will return. He says people will try to make her hate him for what he is about to do, calling him the antichrist, but he feels compelled to take action against an unjust world where politicians live comfortably while many struggle. He says he has had enough of the inequalities and broken system, and that someone needs to pay and open people's eyes. He tells Lucy he is doing this for her and hopes she will remember him as he was, not how others may portray him.
1. God’s Lonely Man
Dialogue
(Cough) Uhh… Hello? Luce, It’s daddy.
I won’t be coming home tonight. In fact, I don’t know when I’ll be
coming home.
There are a few things I want you to know. I know this will be hard
for you, but I have to say it.
Baby, when this is done, they’ll try to make you hate me. They’ll say
what I did was wrong. They’ll act like I’m the fucking antichrist.
Your mum, your friends, their mums, their friends… The newspapers.
There won’t be a household in the world that won’t know my face.
People will take to the streets and chant my name. 100 years from
now, the effects of my actions will still be felt. (Shaking)
They don’t know what it’s like for us, the things we’ve been through.
Moving from house to house, struggling to put the food on the table
for you both.
Jesus! They. Just. Do. Not. Know. (Accentuate know)
These politicians sit there, in their cosy homes, beautiful food,
beautiful wine. The perfect family unit. They have it all. And do they
deserve it? No!
And how do they make this money? I’ll tell you how! By preaching to
the people, telling us that we control our future. We’re all in it
together… Ha (Maniacal laugh) It’s all lies Lucy. The world is built
upon them. But the foundations are crumbling, and I’m gonna bring it
down.
What do we get? Minimum wage, working our asses off to fill the
pockets of the bourgeoisie. Unfulfilled lives. We’re just ghosts in the
machine.
It’s not fair baby, you don’t deserve this life. I won’t allow it!
2. Somebody has to pay for this. I hear people in the street snivelling
about there being no jobs, no opportunities. And yet, nobody does a
thing to change it. They just go home, turn on their TV’s, take
themselves out of this world for a little while, and dream that one-
day things will be better for them. They’re too blind to see it, but I’m
gonna open their eyes.
But I’ve had enough. This has gone on for far to long. I’ve had enough
of waking up in the morning and feeling the cold biting at my skin.
I’ve had enough of looking in the mirror, and only seeing a shadow of
the man I used to be. I’ve had enough of living in a world that’s
unjust.
I’ve. Just. Had. Enough. (Trembling)
It’s nearly time.
Lucy. Please, oh god please, never let them turn you against me. One
day they’ll all think of me as a hero.
But for now you’re all I have, and you’re all I need.
This is all for you. I love you for all that you are and all that you’re
not.
Just remember me as I was, not how they wanted me to be.
Goodbye, sweet dreams baby. Daddy will watch over you.
I’m God’s lonely man and I’m gonna change the world.
