I have extensive experience in building, managing and maintaining large and small multi-site data center
operations, networks and operating systems for leading firms such Sanofi-Aventis and AOL. My contributions
have had a major impact on productivity, efficiency, uptime and cost control. I can contribute to improvements at
your firm by:
Optimizing operations to maximize performance and cut downtime
Improving efficiency and reducing costs by streamlining systems
Ensuring the right technology is in the right place at the right time
Recruiting, training and managing high-performance teams
Leading by example, I expect a lot from myself and those around me. My extensive training includes the following
certificates/courses: Certified LINUX Professional, Certified HPUX Professional and CISCO CCNA. Training at
AOL includes PMP, Microsoft Certified Associate, ICND, Time Management, Managing within the Law and
Managing Conflict. I won a Systems Operations Excellence and multiple Road Warriors awards at AOL.
SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Managed global DC consolidation to save $4.4M. Downsizing at AOL required company to reduce IT footprint
without sacrificing service levels. Tapped to lead consolidation of four DCs in Europe to a single facility. Working
with DC lessor in Frankfurt, upgraded an existing facility from Tier 1 to Tier 4. Completed moves in less than 24
months, seamlessly integrating DCs from UK, FR and Luxembourg to German center with no service interruptions.
Reduced infrastructure installation costs. AOL needed to reduce expenditures of time and travel for installation
of new servers in remote locations. Devised solution based on pre-load/configuring OS and application software at
HQ prior to shipment and go-live. Reduced days on the road for install staff 25% and travel expenses 15%. Freed
up valuable human resources for allocation to more labor intensive, value-added tasks.
Implemented innovative Green data center energy solution. Sanofi-Aventis was looking for ways to reduce
server energy consumption and costly heat dissipation. Partnering with DuPont Fabros Technology and Sub-Zero,
devised unique “Polar Cap” insulation jacketing solution. Enabled automated cold aisle containment, slashing
electricity usage 50Kw per day and generating significant cost savings.
Played key role global Linux rollout at AOL. Company was planning move from multiple OS platforms to single
LINUX Redhat implementation globally. Designed and conducted training programs for AOL system integration and
network admin staff around the world. Created easily reusable curriculum, enabling smooth handoff to next
generation of trainers. To date, 90% of all AOL servers run on LINUX.
Improved network management/maintenance at Sanofi-Aventis. Lack of adequate tracking systems for network
hardware and cabling caused confusion and chaos when moves or adds were required. Directed physical clean of
all DC facilities, identified unused or damaged ports. Created automated system for IT asset management.
Streamlined management of leased data centers for AOL. Senior IT management needed visual tools to assist
in DC capacity management, layout, design, capacity to improve decision making and budget control. Using VISIO,
developed platform for representing floor plans/space utilization for 15 global DCs. Enabled CIO to instantly know
status of any center, dramatically improve decision support for planning and lease negotiations.
