To gain an interview , your resume must convince the
employer it is worth his/her time to meet with you
Here are some basic guidelines :
Keep it short
Keep sentences short
Avoid overusing “l”
Use 8 x 11 paper
Staple in the left hand corner
Put your name on every page
No gimmicks
Consider the appearance of your resume. Avoid folding

3. HISTORICAL/CHRONOLOGICAL :
This type lists your work experience sequentially , usually starting
with your most recent job. It is the most frequently used format and
the easiest to compose , however it may not be the best type for your
particular circumstances
FUNCTIONAL (SKILLED-BASED ) :
This type concentrates on the skill you are able to perform. It suits
those with little work experience or with a gap in their working career
. Professional also make good use of the style.
COMBINED :
This type gives a short work history , but focuses on skill acquired
throughout your career. This style is often the best for professional ,
especially those working on contract.

Leaned at schools or on the job, and are

TRANSFERABLE SKILLS :

could be people-related.But it can also be
general tasks.
ADAPTIVE OR PERSONAL SKILLS:
Included character traits or qualities that are
hard to prove on paper but is important in
showing the kind of employee you are.

with a good mix of all three skill sets. After all ,
for most positions it’s not hard to find
candidates with with the right job-related skills.
