IBM Corporation, Research Triangle Park, NC 1996-2014
Software Quality Assurance Tester
Served as a key member of software development team as a software QA tester on development projects for IBM Systems Director,
Power Virtualization Center, OMEGAMON for IMS, OMEGAMON for Mainframe Networks, Tivoli Data Warehouse, IBM Tivoli Monitoring, and
NetView for z/OS. Results:
Performed extensive installation, function, system and migration verification testing of product components and publications. Testing
included components on Windows, Linux, zLinux and z/OS operating system environments as well as client/server architecture solutions.
Transitioned software development efforts to a test-driven development (TDD) process, using Agile Methodologies, to bring QA testing in
on the front-end of the development cycle for gains in code quality, software functionality and programmer productivity.
Early involvement in product design reviews and early customer demo sessions allowed the development team to improve product
effectiveness and quality, and drive new value in a more timely manner. Contributed to product design by making significant
recommendations for future product enhancements.
Developed and executed comprehensive, detailed test procedures that helped identify numerous software defects which, when resolved,
dramatically improved product installability, usability, documentation and overall quality.
2. Provided installation support and TTEC-GO training for customer product introduction programs. Also provided assistance to Service and
Support organizations that resulted in packaging/code changes per customer requests, and documentation updates to improve installation
and migration accuracy and quality.
Utilized Rational Function Tester [RFT] and home grown automation tools to improve TTV throughout the agile development process. Also
utilized network traffic generation tools and IMS application transactions for improved data validation efforts.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC 1994-
1996
Systems Programmer, Technical Support Department
Responsible for installing, customizing and implementing network management and network capacity planning tools for SNA, Novell Netware
and IP network environments. Results:
Installed, customized and maintained network management and performance monitoring tools to support an enterprise-wide management
strategy for a network of over 5,000 users. Project scope included z/OS, AIX, Novell NetWare/IPX, IP and SNA/SDLC components.
Successfully implemented client/server graphical user interface solution that enabled real-time status and topology monitoring, proactive
network and performance management, and ensured high availability for a network of approximately 28/2000 NetWare/IPX
servers/requesters, 50 LAN hubs/concentrators, and 6 IP routers.
Provided problem-solving assistance for resolving connectivity issues to both internal and external customers/users.

Account Systems Engineer
Technical support specializing in networking and communications software and hardware product solutions for customers in a variety of
industries. Results:
Developed tuning recommendations for a network of 9,000+ users by analyzing critical software communications parameters [ACF/VTAM
and ACF/NCP] in MVS and VM operating environments and provided on-site implementation guidance. Utilized network simulation tools
like TPNS at the IBM Washington Systems Center to generate traffic and understand performance implications based on the environment.
Improved end-user response time by 10-15%.
Coordinated and led strategic network design and implementation projects for several prominent customers. Utilized IBM network
modeling tools (TOPAS and SNAP/SHOT) to select optimum network design alternatives. Provided customers with an effective network
design methodology to analyze network performance and capacity needs and to ensure high network availability.
Created and delivered technical education sessions on network management solutions in SNA, TCP/IP and LAN based environments and
assisted with the installation and customization of network management tools for over twenty customer accounts to enable proactive
systems and network monitoring, and to ensure high availability.
