2. INTRODUCTION
Today, one of the most current problems concerns the protection of the environment.
The seas, the woods and even the cities in which we live are submerged by every type of
waste.
This situation worsens and aggravates the quality of life and deteriorates any type of natural
environment.
3. One of the problems about the
environmental protection is linked to
the way and the attention we should all
have towards waste.
Using nature as a large basket causes
serious damage to ecosystems.
It is important to be aware of the
damage that our actions have on the
environment.
It is vital that people learn about the
waste, where to throw it and what its
future use might be.

5. LET’S START FROM THE SMALL…
To develop our project, we decided to start from our daily reality.
So, our idea is to create a new smart bin.
The smart bin will help citizens to be more sensitive, attentive and active.
7. This article presents the
modelling of Wireless
Sensor Networks (WSNs)
to monitor unfilled level of
bins through a central
monitoring station and
evaluation of wireless
links.
The nodes, called Wireless
Monitoring Unit (WMU)
are installed in each and
every bins and the sensor
present in the WMU
measures the unfilled level
of the bins and transmit
the data to the Wireless
Access Point Unit (WAPU).

17. In these videos the idea of an intelligent bin can be realized both in a city
context and in a family context.
Together we evaluated any advantages and disadvantages of both
options.

22. We would like to combine our smart
bin with an application to make our
project smarter.
We would like to create it using
augmented reality technology.
