  13. 13. 13 13 Gates is known for the success that Microsoft has seen these past decades. Gates alongside Allen designed an Altair emulator that ran on the BASCIC interpreter. By the early 2000s, Gates stepped down as CEO of the company and remained on the board of directors. These days he runs the Bill and Melinda Foundation, a charity he and his ex-wife began while married. BILL GATES
  14. 14. PAUL ALLEN • Allen co-founded Microsoft with Gates and helped spark the computer revolution in the 1970s and 1980s. He was big on programming, investing, and philanthropy in his work life and stepped down from Microsoft in 1983 after a diagnosis but remained on the board of directors. 14
  15. 15. MICROSOFT’S IMPACT 15
  16. 16. MORE THAN JUST TECH • Many would define Microsoft as a “do more” type of company. From the start, the goal of the 2 founders were to get everyone a personal computer in their homes, to make them more powerful, efficient, and convenient 16
  17. 17. SMART TV • Microsoft has led the way to several innovative technologies that many take for granted. The company launched media center on windows in 2002. The program offered many of what you would see in a modern day smart tv. The tech was ahead of its time, and sadly did not take off as planned. • This undoubtedly led to the inspiration of smart TVs down the line once the technology was ready and more efficient to use.

  21. 21. COMPETITION • Competition was not anything Microsoft was worried about, and that idea still exists today. All tech giants push each other further to create new and better technologies for the world to enjoy. Without competition, the industry would likely become stagnant.
  22. 22. HOW WE USE COMPUTERS • Microsoft changed the way we use computers by making them lighter, smaller, and more personal. Today they are still trying to push the envelope. HoloLens is a new way to use a computer as a headset.
