2. When everyone heard about the word “comedy”, the first thing that came to everyone mind
was the humorous of incidents because of comedy offers us a way of having a better time
around things. So, we feel that comedy is one of the things that helps us cope with the
difficulties of living but there’s a slightly difference between comedy film and comedy
adventure film. A comedy adventure film is a film genre in which hybrid of the comedy and
adventure genres. This type of films blend the action, suspense, exotic locales and the heroic
journey of the adventure genre with light-hearted comedic elements. Hence, this makes the
film more interesting and more attractive. So that, I will be comparing the similarities of two
computer-animated comedy adventure movies which are, “Meet the Robinsons” and “Big Hero
6”. Both movies was produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios. There are numerous of
similarity between the two movies such as the storyline, the characteristics of the main
characters, the theme and so on.
The storyline for both movies are quite similar. The movie Meet the Robinsons is about a
brilliant inventor, Lewis who are an orphan that wants to invent a memory scanner because of
he want to see what his biological mother looked like and takes his invention to the science
fair. During the science fair, he is approached by a mysterious boy named Wilbur Robinson,
who cautions him to stay away from ‘The Bowler Hat Guy’ because he wants to take revenge
on Lewis by destroy Lewis’s life. The Bowler Hat Guy that named Mike Yagoobian also
known as Goob actually is Lewis’s roommate of the orphanage. Unrealized to Lewis, Goob
could not have enough sleep, because Lewis focused on his invention every night which
resulted in Goob losing the baseball game at school and suffered the wrath of his teammates.
In similarity, the movie Big Hero 6 is about a brilliant robotics prodigy, Hiro Hamada who
unable to use his intellect for anything more than spending his free time participating in illegal
robot fights. So that, his older brother, Tadashi Hamada encourages Hiro to come up with
something that will impress Robert Callaghan, the head professor of the San Fransokyo
Institute of Technology at the next robotics exhibit coming up. Hiro uses the robotic technology
in his battle-bot and crafts them into thousands of microbots that controlled by neural
transmitter after encourages of Tadashi but everything changed due to the death of Tadashi. At
the same time, Hiro discovered that his invention was stolen by Callaghan also known as Yokai.
Yokai tried to use the stole microbots to take revenge on Krei because his daughter, Abigail
Callaghan death due to the accident during the test pilot that organized by Krei. So, Hiro
organizes a team of heroes called Big Hero 6 to catch the villain Yokai with Baymax that
created by Tadashi and friends to save theirs hometown. The storyline of these two movies are
similar which they have the revenge scenery.
Moreover, the main characters in both movies also have similar characteristics. Lewis and
Hiro both are the inventors and both of them also are adorably precocious child. Lewis’s dream
of inventing doesn’t just stem from his love of it, but also how he wants to make the world a
better place likewise Hiro upgraded Baymax which are the core technology designed by his
brother, Tadashi by turns the huggable healthcare companion into an airborne superhero rescue
bot and design each of the member’s respective suit because of they want to save their
hometown San Fransokyo from destroyed by an evil villain who trying to take over with Hiro’s
invention. Besides that, since how Lewis wants to find his biological mother and how Hiro
grief after Tadashi’s funeral, this can proved that both of them love theirs family.
3. The theme in both movies are quite similar too. The main theme in Meet the Robinsons is
Keep Moving Forward. For example, Lewis never give up of his invention even though he
experienced many failures. Meanwhile, the main theme in Big Hero 6 is Always Look for A
New Angle. For example, Tadashi encourage Hiro look for a new angle when Hiro faced with
difficulties during his invention and not giving up. Besides that, sacrifice for the person that
we love is one of the theme in both movies. For example, Lewis’s family sacrificed for Lewis
from dinosaur’s attack likewise Baymax sacrificed due to he wants to get Hiro and Abigail to
safety by using his rocket punch.
The ending of the movie Meet the Robinsons is Lewis who finally returns to his own time
and prevents Goob from becoming the Bowler Hat Guy by waking him up in time to catch the
ball that wins him the game. Then, Lewis returns to the science fair and demonstrates his
memory scanner on the science fair. Last but not least, Lewis gain his own new family although
he never ever met his biological mother. Meanwhile, Big Hero 6 finally defeated the villain
Yokai and been arrested. Besides that, Hiro discovers Baymax’s healthcare chip which contains
his entire personality and memories within the rocket hand. So that, he successfully rebuilds
Baymax’s body and reactivates him and they happily reunite then they continue their exploits
through the city, helping those in need as the Big Hero 6.
In conclusion, these two comedy adventure films have numerous of similarities between
each other such as the storyline, the characteristics of the main characters, the theme and so on.
In addition, writing comparison of similarities essay for these two movies allows me to learn a
lot of the value of these two movies. This both movies make me understand that we don’t look
backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new
things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.
