work in progress. It

new achievements, jobs
and other professional
credits that are achieved.
3. What should my Resume’ consist
of?
Contact information:
(name, address, phone
number with area code,
city, state, zip code, and
email address); this
should be at the top of
the page.
Focus statement: (brief
statement that tells
about the position you
are interested in).

Professional experiences:
this follows the focus
statement in the
chronological resume’.
In the functional resume:
special skills may
proceed.
Educational background:
degrees and professional
certifications.
5. Tips for Creating a Good
Resume’
Be honest, accurate, and
truthful about skills,
credentials and work
history.
Keep it simple, easy to
read and interesting.
Never write in first
person (I, my, we, our,
etc.)
Have several people to
proofread the resume’
6. What is a cover letter?
Accompanying letter: a
letter sent with another
document or package,
providing necessary or
additional information.
It tells about yourself.
7. Why is a cover letter
important?
A cover letter is your
opportunity to introduce
and promote yourself.
Use the cover letter to
give potential employers
an idea of who you are.
8. What goes in a cover letter?
Your street, city, state, zip code
should be typed on one line
each.
(Double space)then type the
name of the employer, title and
their address.
Salutation (employer’s name).
First paragraph-explain your
reason for applying (a few
sentences).
Next paragraph-reason why you
are the best candidate for the
job.
Final paragraph- not more than
two or three sentences(thank
employer for time/effort spent
considering your application.
Lastly, put your name and
signature written in ink.
9. General Tips
Attitude is everything.
Research the job position and company.
Dress the part.
When given the job interview, be on time.
Make good eye contact and speak clearly.
After interview write a short thank-you note to the
interviewer.
