fast-paced, ever-changing plastics industry as part of a robust, interdependent

WHAT ARE THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES YOU FACE IN YOUR JOB?
The biggest challenge I face in my job is quickly and accurately identifying

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT
THE FACES BEHIND THE INNOVATION
Florian Jung
Senior Global Business Manager
EXTEM™
Resin & ULTEM™
Copolymers
“We need to be close to our customers,
anticipate their requirements and have
a solution at hand when they need it.
To achieve this, a high level of trust and
true collaboration should be established
with industry innovation leaders across
our focus segments.”
2. WHERE DO YOU SEE THE PLASTICS INDUSTRY GOING
IN THE NEXT THREE TO FIVE YEARS?
Within the world of high-performance plastics, I see two major trends. The first is
sustainability, which has certainly become a major focus of the global economy.
There is a huge number of opportunities to become more sustainable by using
environmentally responsible raw materials, improving recycle rates, selecting
E-Mobility modes of transportation or swapping out heavier materials for our
high-performance plastics to help reduce CO2 emissions.
Second, plastics industry groups and other organizations that include
knowledgeable material suppliers like SABIC will help us all better understand
and more proactively address new and emerging market trends, and ultimately
help create more customized solutions to increase value across the plastics
supply chain.
HOW CAN SABIC HELP ITS CURRENT AND FUTURE CUSTOMERS SUCCEED?
We need to be close to our customers, anticipate their requirements and have a
solution at hand when they need it. To achieve this, a high level of trust and true
collaboration should be established with industry innovation leaders across our
focus segments.
WHAT IS ONE THING YOU WOULD WANT OUR CUSTOMERS TO KNOW ABOUT
SABIC OR THE COMPANY’S ULTEM™ AND EXTEM™ RESIN PORTFOLIOS?
The Internet of things (IoT) will enable our world to drive efficiency to brand new
levels, limited only by our collective imagination. SABIC’S ULTEM™ and EXTEM™
materials, among our other products, will no doubt play a leading role here by
helping to enable the needed infrastructure to handle both the high data speeds
and traffic needed for a stable, reliable IOT environment.
DO YOU HAVE ANY MAJOR CUSTOMER-FACING EVENTS
COMING UP SHORT TERM?
SABIC will be exhibiting at Photonics West 2020, February 1-6, in San Francisco,
Calif. which is a leading global exhibition in fiber optical onboard components,
one of our key focus segments.
