Company was moving into datacom with theirpacket transport needed IP expert
Compared different IP stacks: INET, FreeBSD, NetBSD; wrote white paper identifying reasons for selection of
FreeBSD. Received compliments on thoroughness,research,content of white paper from engineers, management.
Ported FreeBSD IP stack on OSE kernel; re-architected FreeBSD processes and messaging/layers to fit into software
architecture; re-wrote sections ofFreeBSD involving timer architecture, interprocess messaging, semaphore
structures,interrupt processing; modified device driver interfaces, application socket layer interface to include OSE
traps; makefiles and header file changes to not use the OSE’s IP stack INET.
