Creating a shared a vision for
Aston Rowant C of E School
We are always reviewing what we are doing
and looking critically at our own practice and
the needs of the children. The direction for
the future is ambitious, challenging and
ongoing. It is shaped by an informed
awareness of current educational thinking
and involves recurring reflection and debate
among our children, parents, staff and
partners, and analysis of where the school, is
at.
The Nature of the Vision
It's about having the vision and
innovative ideas, imagination and
a 'have a go at everything'
attitude - and that rubs off on
the children.
Strategy
We ask ourselves the searching
questions. That implies a commitment
to scrutinising practice and exploring
ways of effecting
improvements. Class teaching has to
be a main focus of our school
improvement plan…. That is important
to us.

All staff focus on developing our children
as successful learners, confident
individuals, effective contributors and
responsible individuals. Our vision is to
develop these through providing high
quality learning and teaching approaches
and a variety of experiences both in-
school and out-of school.
Pupil Outcomes
• All children make at least expected progress from their individual
starting points. 100% of children make good progress.
• Progress and attainment in maths reaches the high standard we
currently achieve in reading and writing.
• Maintain a measurable GLD above the national average in EYFS
• Year 1 phonic screening- to maintain our high standard of 100%
(cohort dependent)
• Year 2 and 6 SATs data for Maths to be more in line with Reading
and writing and that we get more children at ‘deeper mastery’.
• KS2 SATs data shows that we have achieved at least the national
average in RWM.
Big Push on Maths
Focus on progress and attainment in
maths and writing to reach the high
standard we currently achieve in
reading.
Quality of teaching and learning in
Maths ensures all children make at
least expected progress.
How are we going to do this?
• Gaps analysis
• Question analysis
• Changing our plans to meet the analysis
(more using and applying)
• Small group additional teaching for those
not yet secure and for those to gain
deeper mastery
• Booster sessions for Year 2 and 6
• Use of sample and past papers
• Partnership schools support and CPD.
A creative enriched curriculum
• Successful launch of Year 1 of a 2
Year creative curriculum evaluated
and updated ready for Sept 17.
• Children gaining more hands on
investigative work.
• Learning Exhibitions to show case
good teaching and learning.
Maximise opportunities for Outdoor
Learning.
• Educational visits to reflect the
creative nature of the curriculum.
• More use of our outside space to allow
for hands on investigative work.
• Opportunities for children to be outside
the classroom
Competitive Sport
• Development of the quality teaching of
competitive sport.
• Delivery of extra curricular sports
clubs available to all.
• A life long love of sport.
• More opportunities for children to take
part in inter school sports.
Personal Development Behaviour
and Welfare
• Proactive learning ethos evident in
school
• Growth mind-sets will be adopted by all
with ‘failure’ an opportunity.
• Children will be doing the right thing
even when not on best behaviour

  • 3. Creating a shared a vision for Aston Rowant C of E School We are always reviewing what we are doing and looking critically at our own practice and the needs of the children. The direction for the future is ambitious, challenging and ongoing. It is shaped by an informed awareness of current educational thinking and involves recurring reflection and debate among our children, parents, staff and partners, and analysis of where the school, is at.

  • 5. The Nature of the Vision It's about having the vision and innovative ideas, imagination and a 'have a go at everything' attitude - and that rubs off on the children.

  • 7. Strategy We ask ourselves the searching questions. That implies a commitment to scrutinising practice and exploring ways of effecting improvements. Class teaching has to be a main focus of our school improvement plan…. That is important to us.

  • 15. Mission Statement Developing children to become confident and ambitious life- long learners through a nurturing, inspiring and bespoke learning environment.
  • 16. What is Success by End of 2017?
  • 18. Leading Learning All staff focus on developing our children as successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible individuals. Our vision is to develop these through providing high quality learning and teaching approaches and a variety of experiences both in- school and out-of school.

Pupil Outcomes • All children make at least expected progress from their individual starting points. 100% of children make good progress. • Progress and attainment in maths reaches the high standard we currently achieve in reading and writing. • Maintain a measurable GLD above the national average in EYFS • Year 1 phonic screening- to maintain our high standard of 100% (cohort dependent) • Year 2 and 6 SATs data for Maths to be more in line with Reading and writing and that we get more children at ‘deeper mastery’. • KS2 SATs data shows that we have achieved at least the national average in RWM.
  • 21. Big Push on Maths Focus on progress and attainment in maths and writing to reach the high standard we currently achieve in reading. Quality of teaching and learning in Maths ensures all children make at least expected progress.

How are we going to do this? • Gaps analysis • Question analysis • Changing our plans to meet the analysis (more using and applying) • Small group additional teaching for those not yet secure and for those to gain deeper mastery • Booster sessions for Year 2 and 6 • Use of sample and past papers • Partnership schools support and CPD.

  • 24. A creative enriched curriculum • Successful launch of Year 1 of a 2 Year creative curriculum evaluated and updated ready for Sept 17. • Children gaining more hands on investigative work. • Learning Exhibitions to show case good teaching and learning.

  • 26. Maximise opportunities for Outdoor Learning. • Educational visits to reflect the creative nature of the curriculum. • More use of our outside space to allow for hands on investigative work. • Opportunities for children to be outside the classroom

  • 28. Competitive Sport • Development of the quality teaching of competitive sport. • Delivery of extra curricular sports clubs available to all. • A life long love of sport. • More opportunities for children to take part in inter school sports.

Personal Development Behaviour and Welfare • Proactive learning ethos evident in school • Growth mind-sets will be adopted by all with ‘failure’ an opportunity. • Children will be doing the right thing even when not on best behaviour • Children demonstrate how to keep themselves safe at all times.
