look like for you these days?
● getting outside

● Self-care is creating a life I don't feel the need to escape from

share: How have you experienced the concept of "mental health"
within your own cultural communities?
● Asian culture isn't very friendly or understanding of mental health
issues
● *Warning*(I dont want to upset anyone) But it is seen Negatively, if
you aren't okay something is wring with you
● It's often addressed as something to "get over"
● its private, you deal with it on your own in many black families
● asian and black culture sees it as weakness
● Mine is Hispanic/Black culture) Something that shouldn't be
addressed
● in hispanics, it just called just sad and to get over it

What did you feel?
● Uncertainty
● Uncertain about the boys future
● "You can't heal what you can't feel"
● Seeing the boy in some scenes, but he was hidden
from the adults showed how much he's an observer,
whether they think he is or isn't.
27. What are some practices that
help support your wellness?
● the mom couldn't leave the toxic relationship
● I sought out a therapists and have tried to get back into old
hobbies like art
● talking to a therapist
● Calling a supportive friend who would validate my feelings.

● Approach new topics with a more open and
understanding mind
● practice openness with others, openness with topics
● expressing these feelings and tough topics through art
and community can be healing
● I think it's important to ask the questions, but make room
for your own reaction. Realizing that my reaction is okay,
but my actions are what reflect who I am
● creating safe places for everyone to communicate
difficult topics and emotions, practice mindfulness, and
remember to validate your own feelings
