3. ABSTRACT:
• Drying means removal of moisture content from grains
• In sun drying a lot of draw backs associated with more space requirement and hints infestigation by the
insects and micro-organism and animals, rain &blowing wind.
• Solar dryers are Specialized, devices that are use Solar Energy from sun drying fruits and vegetables
with possible low-cost dryer.
• Solar dryers consists cover plate absorb the solar radiation and transfered drying chamber products are
dried.
4. INTRODUCTION:
Sun drying is a method of drying of agricultural products simply laying the products in the
sun on mats , roofs or drying floors.
In sun drying there is a greater risk of spoilage due to climate conditions like wind, rain,
dust, moist, loss of products due to insects, birds, roodents.
Sun drying is labour intensive and limited capacity.
To overcome these abstractions we develop a solar dryer.
Solar dryer is a device used to remove the moisture content from different agricultural
products like grains, fruits and vegetables.
Solar dryer used to preserve food for longer periods and increase storage life .
There no risk of contamination by insects ,birds .
5. REVIEW OF LITERATURE:
S.No Author Year Result
1 Olaniyan et al 2015 Designed rotary dryer for drying the
fertilizers
2 Gallali et al 2000 Reported that investigation on dried fruits
and vegetables.
3 Leon Iet al 2002 Evaluation of food dryers based on
parameters considerations.
6. PROBLEM STATEMENT:
High machine cost
Uncontrolled temperatures and Non-uniform drying
Contamination by birds, insects and dust
7. PROJECT OBJECTIVES :
1. To develop a solar dryer with optimal design consideration.
2. To collect the safe moisture content of different agricultural
products.
3. To compare the cost of dryer with solar dryer.
8. MATERIALS AND METHODOLOGY:
components:
Main frame Iron
Transparent covers pvc
Trays plywood
Net Mesh Ms(mild steel)
Axial fans Ms(mild steel)
Connecting wires copper
In the proposed method we have designed a solar dryer
9. Main frame
Frame is used to support the dryer components and body it deals with environmental
factors, without undergo deflexion or distorious. It is made of Iron material.
10. Transparent covers:
.
These are made up of high density polyethylene absorb the solar radiation and
transferred drying chamber.
11. Wooden trays
This are inserted a place by the main frame it acts as a solar collector. The products are placed
on trays uniformly and with uniform thickness.
12. perforated steel
The perforated steel mesh facilitates the humidity and moisture level of fruits and vegetables. The air flow
rate is important to the overall system performance.
13. Axial Fans
• The axial fans are used to provide better ventilation to the solar dryer. The electrical energy of
the fan increase with mass flow rate of air.
Connecting wires
• Connecting wires allows an electrical current to travel from one point on a circuit to another
because electricity needs a medium through which it can move.
