Galileo Galilei was an Italian scientist born in 1564 who made several important inventions and scientific discoveries. He invented the thermometer, compass, and telescope, and also proposed the idea for the pendulum clock. Galileo had a relationship and children with Marina Gamba but never married. He taught mathematics and was a professor of physics at the University of Pisa. In his later years, Galileo went blind and died in 1642.
