HyperactiveHyperactive KidsKids
• They are restless.

and answer back to teachers.
• They shout the answers before they hear the whole
question
• They can hardly wait for their turn in the game.
Daydreamers

• They listen to the teachers but miss a lot of
information.
• They misunderstand the tasks and do the
exercises wrong.

ADHD KidsADHD Kids
• Make a lot of spelling and syntax mistakes.
•Cannot read the text loudly since they are afraid of making
mistakes.
• Read slowly and can be very exhausted from reading. So they
prefer books with pictures, graphics and charts.
•While writing compositions they write their sentences short
and non-informative in order to avoid syntax, grammar and
spelling mistakes.
•During listening comprehension LD students don't understand
what they hear. Therefore some information may be lost.
RemediationRemediation
• Give LD students more time to complete
their class work and tests.
• Reduce the level of distraction in the
classroom. Distractible kids should
sit away from windows and close to you.
• Give pre-teaching activities. Provide plenty of pre-listening,
pre-writing and pre-reading tasks.
• Practice pair-work, group-work and class discussions to make
ADHD kids interested and motivated in studies.
• Practice multi-sensory teaching. Teach the language using
visual, auditory, mnemonic, tactile and kinesthetic strategies
to enhance memory.
Technology in the ClassroomTechnology in the Classroom
or Revolution in the Process of Learningor Revolution in the Process of Learning
Due to technologyDue to technology……
LD students…
• are highly motivated
• always get engaged in classroom activities
• are attentive, not disruptive and excited
about learning
• check their spelling, grammar and general
understanding
• have learner autonomy
• get less frustrated and discouraged
Their teachers…
•do more teaching and less behavior
management
•catch the kids’ attention more easily
•can conduct frontal lessons using interactive
whiteboard
•adapt material for LD students in a variety of
ways.
Audio-Visual Activities for Class Work
According to R.D.Davis, many dyslexic kids are talented in music.
Therefore singing songs is a good way to learn new words and
grammar rules. Thus, when the high-school students cannot
understand the difference between Past Simple and Past
Progressive Tenses, one of the United States' most famous folk
song "This land is your land" may help a lot.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeMLaQTwIgU
When the sun was shining, and I was strolling
And the wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling
As the fog was lifting, a voice was chanting,
This land was made for you and me.

Dyslexia and Matriculation Exams
Israeli Ministry of Education practices the
following ways to ease the Matriculation Exams
for LD Students:
•Extra time (usually 25%)
•Electronic dictionary
•Ignoring spelling mistakes
•Computerized exam (optionally)
Dyslexic Talents
Conclusion
• There are no bad learners – there are bad methods.
• You cannot learn English for your students but you can help.
• Textbooks, dictionaries and the interactive web cannot learn
English for your students but they can help.
• Be creative, charismatic and supportive.
• Help your students find out their God-given talents and
develop them.
• Be ready for unexpected situations in the classroom. Always
have another lesson plan in store.
• Teach interesting, motivating and success-oriented materials.
Thank you!
