MANPOWER PLANNING
• It is the process of determining human resource
needs relative to an organization’s strategic plans and
devising steps necessary to meet those needs
RECRUITMENT
• It is the process of searching for prospective
employees and stimulating them to apply for the job.
• It includes analyzing the job requirements, reviewing
applications, screening, shortlisting and interviewing.
SELECTION
• It is the process through which unsuitable candidates
are rejected and suitable ones are chosen by selecting
best candidate.
• It is mainly done by matching the organisational
requirements with the skills and abilities of the
candidate.
PLACEMENT AND ORIENTATION
• Placement refers to occupying of the post by
candidate.
• Employee is given activities to perform and told about
his duties.
• Orientation refers to the introduction to the
organization’s policies, rules and regulations, other
employees, etc.
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
• Training is the process of enhancing the skills.
Capabilities and knowledge of the employees.
• Development implies learning opportunities, designed
to ensure the growth of employees
COMPENSATION
• It includes
1. Direct payments - wages, salary, allowances, etc.
2. Indirect payments – medical facilities, insurance etc
PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL
• It refers to evaluating the performance of employees
against standards set by the organization.
• Appraisal can be
1. Monetary
2. Non-monetary
PROMOTION
• It refers to being placed at higher job position with
more pay, job satisfaction and responsibility.
• The two bases of promotion are
1. Seniority based
2. Merit based
