century.Josiah went
froma failingstudenttoan above average studentoverthe course of a single semesterandhas
remained anhighachieversince.In2004 and againin2007 JosiahtraveledtoCalcutta Indiaand
experiencedthe squalormanylive indaybyday. The experience causedJosiahtoquestionhisown
conditioning,andbeganmakingsense of the truthsbehindconsumerism. Asachildhe was diagnosed
withADHD and wasprescribedAdderall totreathissymptoms.The authorunderstandsthatchemical
imbalanceswithinthe humanmindrequire medication,howevermedicationsdonotneedtoinflictones
beliefsabouttheirpotential. DuringJosiah’ssecondtriptoIndiain2007 he wasbittenbya tick on topof
hishead.The followingeightyearsentailedmanybiological disordersresultingfromundiagnosedlyme
disease.The authorexperiencedsevere anxiety attacksthathe had to overcome withcognitive,
behavioral,andhumanisticmethodsof psychology.The sensation of beingsickand notbeingdiagnosed
yearafter yearbecame dauntingonJosiahandhe begandrinkinginexcess.Thiscausedthe authorto
landin jail for30 daysand solitaryconfinementfortenadditional days.Howeveraftergrouptherapy
the author has learnedhowdestructive addictiontrulyis,whichisessential tounderstandingothers
withaddictions.JosiahEck hasa deeplove forlife andis saddened bywhatpeople withmental illness
endure.Andsohe looksfortruth behindhumanpsychologyanddoessobyembracingpowerlessness.
Howeverhe doessoalsoby noticingthe unconsciouspowerwithinall livingthingsandattemptsto
conditionmenand women’s thoughtsandbeliefswiththistruth.
