What is a
Cryptocurrency
• What is a Cryptocurrency?
• Digital currencies are secured
using cryptography and
combining that with their role as
a currency.
• Are mined. Not printed.
• Considered digital gold, silver..
• Bitcoin is the most widely known
and has the largest market cap.

What is a
Cryptocurrency
• Cryptocurrency examples
• Bitcoin
• Litecoin
• Monero
• Dash
• Ether
• Ripple
• And thousands more…..

What is a Cryptocurrency?
Lets Discuss Bitcoin Briefly
• Bitcoin(BTC) was created by a discrete
create named Satoshi Nakamoto in 2009.
To this day no one knows who he or she is.
• Bitcoin now has a fork called Bitcoin Cash.
• Bitcoin is known as “crypto gold”

What is an ICO
• Initial Coin Offering (ICO) is an event
in which a new cryptocurrency sells
advance tokens from its overall
coinbase, in exchange for upfront
capital.
• ICOs are frequently used for
developers of a new cryptocurrency
to raise capital.

What is a Blockchain
• A cryptographically secure, shared, distributed
ledger.
• Immutable transactions are written on this
distributed ledger on distributed nodes
• Transformational technology in which business and
government invest in.
• It’s a decentralized database which stores
information in the form of transactions.

What is a Blockchain
• Book = Blockchain
• Page = Block
• Page Entry = Blockchain transaction
• Lets think of the blockchain as a book
that can be written to but not erased.
• Blockchains can be private or public
• Blockchains are revolutionary way of
implementing “trust” into a platform.

What is a Blockchain
A blockchain is a globally shared data structure, transactional backend database.(In
Bitcoin it’s generally called a ledger)
This means that everyone can read entries in the database just by participating in the
network.
If you want to change something in the database, you have to create a so-called
“transaction” which has to be accepted by all others.
The word “transaction” implies that the change you want to make (assume you want to
change two values at the same time) is either not done at all or completely applied.

Blockchain Basics
• Blockchain is a self-sustaining, peer-to-
peer database technology for
managing and recording transactions
with no intermediary.
• Blockchain verification is handled
through algorithms and consensus
among multiple computers, the system
is presumed immune to tampering,
fraud, or political control.

Blockchain Basics
• Participants in the blockchain
are relatively anonymous,
identified only by pseudonyms,
and every transaction can be
relied upon.
• Because every core transaction
is processed just once, in one
shared electronic ledger,
blockchain reduces the
redundancy.

Blockchain Basics
Blockchain Basics
The term blockchain is
derived from the way
transactions are stored
Transactions are
completed after new block
is added to the existing
blockchain

Blockchain Basics
• Blockchain is the platform
• Blockchain is distributed
• Blockchain uses consensus
• Blockchain is the enabler
• Blockchains are redefining how
businesses create efficiencies

myblockchainexperts.com
Blockchain Basics
• Blockchain Basics
• Blockchain enable
“decentralized trust”
• Blockchain is an “immutable”
platform
• Blockchain protocols define
“level of trust”
• Blockchains use Private key
cryptography which enables
push transactions
• Blockchains scale

Let Compare
Lets compare blockchain to other
technology
• Telcom network to a telephone
• Databases are centralized where the
blockchain is decentralized.
• Blockchains are not built from a new
technology. Built from a unique synching
of three existing technologies.
• Private or Public
Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
Let Compare
Built from these technologies.
• P2P Networks
• Private Key Encryption
• Programs
Credits - Diagram from Financial Times

Digital Identity
• Digital Identity is
established
• Combining a public and
private key creates a strong
digital identity reference
based on possession.
• Private Key
• Public Key
Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
Why the Blockchain now?
• Blockchain is revolutionary in several ways
• Blockchain is not new technology but a synching
of technologies that now make sense.
• Trust is at the center and essentially removes
intermediaries. (efficiency)
• Tamperproof public ledger of value.
• Disruptive to the status quo. Legacy is out
• Platform with numerous use cases.
Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
Lets Sum a Blockchain
Up
• Blockchain is complex technology but is a simple
concept really. Trust is at the center.
• Blockchains are ledgers shared among computers
around the world
• The ledgers in a blockchain are immutable.
• Blockchain is not new technology but a synching
of technologies

What the difference?
What is a Cryptocurrency?
• Digital currencies are
secured using cryptography
and combining that with their
role as a currency.
• Are mined. Not printed.
• Considered digital gold,
silver..
• Bitcoin is the most widely
known and has the largest
market cap.
What is a Blockchain?
• Book = Blockchain
• Page = Block
• Page Entry = Blockchain transaction
• Lets think of the blockchain as a
book that can be written to but not
erased.
• Blockchains can be private or public
• Blockchains are revolutionary way of
implementing “trust” into a platform.
Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
What the difference?
What is a difference?
• Blockchain is the Platform
• Cryptos like Bitcoin use the
Blockchain Platform.
• Blockchain is the enabler…
• Cryptocurrency uses blockchain
technology.
Bitcoin is the first known
software(Token) for blockchain.
Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
What the difference?
• BTC is a P2P cryptocurrency
that uses the P2P Platform
(Blockchain)
• Ethereum is a platform for
example. Ether is the
cryptocurrency
Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
Careers in the
Blockchain
• Blockchain expertise is developed
thru various methods and there is no
real clear career path..
• Blockchain training is informal but
more higher education focused
curriculum is being developed.
• Programmers do very well.
• Languages to focus on -- Evergreen
C++, Javascript, Python and Solidity
Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
Careers in the
Blockchain
• Blockchain Developer
• Blockchain Architect
• Blockchain Pre sales and Sales
• Blockchain Marketing
• Blockchain Trainer
• A Linkedin Search shows over 1700 roles requiring
some blockchain knowledge…. Big change from last
year….

  • 4. What is a Cryptocurrency • What is a Cryptocurrency? • Digital currencies are secured using cryptography and combining that with their role as a currency. • Are mined. Not printed. • Considered digital gold, silver.. • Bitcoin is the most widely known and has the largest market cap. Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
  • 5. What is a Cryptocurrency • Cryptocurrency examples • Bitcoin • Litecoin • Monero • Dash • Ether • Ripple • And thousands more….. Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
  • 6. What is a Cryptocurrency? Lets Discuss Bitcoin Briefly • Bitcoin(BTC) was created by a discrete create named Satoshi Nakamoto in 2009. To this day no one knows who he or she is. • Bitcoin now has a fork called Bitcoin Cash. • Bitcoin is known as “crypto gold” Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
  • 8. What is an ICO • Initial Coin Offering (ICO) is an event in which a new cryptocurrency sells advance tokens from its overall coinbase, in exchange for upfront capital. • ICOs are frequently used for developers of a new cryptocurrency to raise capital. Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
  • 9. What is a Blockchain • A cryptographically secure, shared, distributed ledger. • Immutable transactions are written on this distributed ledger on distributed nodes • Transformational technology in which business and government invest in. • It’s a decentralized database which stores information in the form of transactions. • 10. What is a Blockchain • Book = Blockchain • Page = Block • Page Entry = Blockchain transaction • Lets think of the blockchain as a book that can be written to but not erased. • Blockchains can be private or public • Blockchains are revolutionary way of implementing “trust” into a platform. • 11. What is a Blockchain A blockchain is a globally shared data structure, transactional backend database.(In Bitcoin it’s generally called a ledger) This means that everyone can read entries in the database just by participating in the network. If you want to change something in the database, you have to create a so-called “transaction” which has to be accepted by all others. The word “transaction” implies that the change you want to make (assume you want to change two values at the same time) is either not done at all or completely applied. • 12. Blockchain Basics • Blockchain is a self-sustaining, peer-to- peer database technology for managing and recording transactions with no intermediary. • Blockchain verification is handled through algorithms and consensus among multiple computers, the system is presumed immune to tampering, fraud, or political control. • 13. Blockchain Basics • Participants in the blockchain are relatively anonymous, identified only by pseudonyms, and every transaction can be relied upon. • Because every core transaction is processed just once, in one shared electronic ledger, blockchain reduces the redundancy. • 14. Blockchain Basics Blockchain Basics The term blockchain is derived from the way transactions are stored Transactions are completed after new block is added to the existing blockchain Potential Truth Machine Courtesy - PWC Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
  • 15. Blockchain Basics • Blockchain is the platform • Blockchain is distributed • Blockchain uses consensus • Blockchain is the enabler • Blockchains are redefining how businesses create efficiencies Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
  • 16. Blockchain Basics • Blockchain Basics • Blockchain enable “decentralized trust” • Blockchain is an “immutable” platform • Blockchain protocols define “level of trust” • Blockchains use Private key cryptography which enables push transactions • Blockchains scale Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
  • 17. Let Compare Lets compare blockchain to other technology • Telcom network to a telephone • Databases are centralized where the blockchain is decentralized. • Blockchains are not built from a new technology. Built from a unique synching of three existing technologies. • Private or Public Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
  • 18. Let Compare Built from these technologies. • P2P Networks • Private Key Encryption • Programs Credits - Diagram from Financial Times Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
  • 19. Digital Identity • Digital Identity is established • Combining a public and private key creates a strong digital identity reference based on possession. • Private Key • Public Key Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
  • 20. Why the Blockchain now? • Blockchain is revolutionary in several ways • Blockchain is not new technology but a synching of technologies that now make sense. • Trust is at the center and essentially removes intermediaries. (efficiency) • Tamperproof public ledger of value. • Disruptive to the status quo. Legacy is out • Platform with numerous use cases. Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
  • 21. Lets Sum a Blockchain Up • Blockchain is complex technology but is a simple concept really. Trust is at the center. • Blockchains are ledgers shared among computers around the world • The ledgers in a blockchain are immutable. • Blockchain is not new technology but a synching of technologies Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
  • 22. What the difference? What is a Cryptocurrency? • Digital currencies are secured using cryptography and combining that with their role as a currency. • Are mined. Not printed. • Considered digital gold, silver.. • Bitcoin is the most widely known and has the largest market cap. What is a Blockchain? • Book = Blockchain • Page = Block • Page Entry = Blockchain transaction • Lets think of the blockchain as a book that can be written to but not erased. • Blockchains can be private or public • Blockchains are revolutionary way of implementing “trust” into a platform. Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
  • 23. What the difference? What is a difference? • Blockchain is the Platform • Cryptos like Bitcoin use the Blockchain Platform. • Blockchain is the enabler… • Cryptocurrency uses blockchain technology. Bitcoin is the first known software(Token) for blockchain. Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
  • 24. What the difference? • BTC is a P2P cryptocurrency that uses the P2P Platform (Blockchain) • Ethereum is a platform for example. Ether is the cryptocurrency Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
  • 25. Careers in the Blockchain • Blockchain expertise is developed thru various methods and there is no real clear career path.. • Blockchain training is informal but more higher education focused curriculum is being developed. • Programmers do very well. • Languages to focus on -- Evergreen C++, Javascript, Python and Solidity Copyright © myblockchainexperts.com
  • 26. Careers in the Blockchain • Blockchain Developer • Blockchain Architect • Blockchain Pre sales and Sales • Blockchain Marketing • Blockchain Trainer • A Linkedin Search shows over 1700 roles requiring some blockchain knowledge….
