2014 – 2015 Pfizer Inc. – EU Regulatory Strategy Team – 1 year industrial placement
I was in a regulatory team working on biosimilars, which are similar versions of
other companies’ drugs once the patent has expired, under the prime objective
of ensuring that any drug produced by Pfizer will enhance their patient’s quality
of life. My role and responsibilities included:
• Ensuring Pfizer’s biosimilars will meet the detailed regulations set by the
European Medicines Agency and national agencies
• Monitoring the development of the competitors’ biosimilar programmes
• Submitting briefing packages for agency meetings leading to a successful
scientific advice meetings with the UK and Danish Agencies
• Analysing the responses from scientific advice meetings with national
agencies
• Clarifying regulations with regulatory strategists and national agencies in
other countries
• Lobbying/influencing agencies in conjunction with competitors to improve
the commercial market for biosimilar entry
• Preparing educational materials for a monthly newsletter
• Planning, organising and running a successful induction day for the ten
