IR is the main service and is delivered in an innovative way.This means that a IR can be up and running in a two months period.
Since the beginning we have defined has strategy to integrate RCAAP with other tools.The first integration was with b-on search engine1 – b-on is the national consortium that purchase content from scientific main publishers2 - b-on has search engine3 – RCAAP is no one of the resources of that portal
CurrentResearchInformationSystemA integração com o DeGoís veio permitir a interligação entre Plataforma de Curricula DeGóis e o RCAAP aproveitando o mesmoregistoparaosdoissistemas.
One of the newest services we have launched is Blimunda -Publisher copyright policies & self-archivingThe project was comissioned by RCAAP to Library and documentation center of Faculty of Science and Tecnology of New University of Lisbon (our hostess) Activities:- Registration of Portuguese journals (250) hald- TranslationMaisrecenteserviço, desenvolvidoemparceria com FCT/UNL, é projectoBlimunda:- SHERPA-ROMEO contémpolíticas auto-depósitoem RI relativas a revistas e editorescientíficos- ProjectoBlimundaconsisitiuemfazerlevantamentoparaeditoresportuguesesTradução de siteTradução de políticas- Se conhecemalgum editor de revistaportuguesaquedesejaregistar a suapolíticaentãocontactem-nos.Greencan archive pre-print and post-print or publisher's version/PDFBluecan archive post-print (ie final draft post-refereeing) or publisher's version/PDFYellowcan archive pre-print (ie pre-refereeing)Whitearchiving not formally supported
Has you know, open access is about a cultural change so, in order to help member institutions in the dissemination and communication activities, RCAAP team has produced:- Traditional merchandizing material and a communication plan for Institutions to useWeb 2.0 tools
Here are ourweb 2.0 addresses,… soyou are invited to joinus.
This slide show some other activities/materials used for dissemination- The open access week was a very successful event with the participation of more that 2/3 of Member Instituions- The first Portuguese- Brazilian OA conference (partnership that I will talk in a few moments)- Two TV programs focused OA
Until the present moment the project produced several documents. The most relevant ones are:State of the Art Report on Open Access in Portugal. This study was done in conjunction with SELL and was presente in Granada Meeting.Open Access Policies Kit. (Research Institution and Funding agencies)State of the Art Report on Scientific Data Repositories (that Eloy has presented)
Inoctober 2009 a MoUwassignedbetweenMinistriesofScienceandEducationof Brasil and Portugal
This graphic shows the Irs repositories evolutionThe dark line shows the number of total repositories aggregated. The medium gray show the number of hosted IR. The light gray show the Irs managed by institution members.We are proud to show it because:Firstly because since the project started the number of Irs more than doubled;Secondly because the numberosIrs is more that 2/3 of the total number of repositoriesLastly because some institutions are giving up their IR in order to move to the hosted one- Mais do queduplicounúmero de repositórioapósiniciativa RCAAP- Momentohistórico com o número de SARIs a ultrapassar o número de repositóriosexistentes.

The slide show figures regarding web 2.0 services. We can see:The number of facebook friendsThe number of tweettsThe number of posts and visitsYou are welcomed to join us
This slide shows googleanalitics figures since Jan 1, 2009.In this graph we can see that the usage is rising. Its also curious to observe the effect of events lineGlobal campain in September 2009Open Access weekWe can also see the several sources and usage by country.
Regarding policies and mandates itisalsointeresting to seethatthenumberhasbeengrowingandexpects to increase more.
In terms of future work we will give special attention to:SDR (continue the pilot planed to start in 2010 in order to access if we can provide a service on this area)During Blimunda project we were able to ask publishers their interest on having their journal hosted. More than 90% where interested in that kind of service so we intend to run a pilot in order to test this serviceWith the growth of content and participating institutions our preservation responsibilities increase so we would like to work on digital preservationConclusionsContinue the support of the creation and implementation of repositories in institutions still lacking them;Provideguidelines, toolkits and help for the definition and implementation of Open Access mandates for research institutions; Provide guidelines, toolkits and help for the definition and implementation of Open Access mandates for research funders; Reinforce the Open Access advocacy and dissemination activities for repositories and RCAAP Portal;
I would like to end by sharing what we believe to be the critical success factors of the projectFinally the active involvement of institution members has been crucial to move the project forward
