Improve brain function and promote well being with deprenyl
Deprenyl was first created and developed as an anti depressant by a Hungarian scientist named Dr. Joseph Knoll of the Semmelweis University in Budapest during 10960s. However due to its limited potential to treat depression, the drug could not gain much popularity as an anti depressant medicine.
Deprenyl however after a decade of its use as an anti depression medicine was found to be effective in improving brain function overtime with its regular and consistent use. This made scientists research the potential of this brain boosting drug for treatment of alzhiemer’s disease and other fatal and mentally excoriating disease like parkinson’s and senile dementia.
Deprenyl is a selective irreversible MAO-B inhibitor in lower doses. MAO-B is a brain chemical which is responsible for breaking down neurotransmitter called dopamine popularly known as the stress busting brain chemical in our body. This dopamine is produced in the brain from two amino acids that occur naturally in foods: phenylalanine and tyrosine.
For the proper functioning of our mind and body the production of dopamine from these two amino acids and its break down by MAO-B is essential. This crucial balance of dopamine needs to be maintained if one wants to be healthy and sturdy. However it has been observed that as we age more dopamine is broken down by MAO-B than it is produced by the amino acids. This results in not only age related general day to day forgetfulness but depression and an overall mental decline as well.
Also in people with alzheimer’s disease, parkinson’s disease and senile dementia this age related breaking down of dopamine occurs at a much faster rate than normal resulting in progressive memory loss and decline of mental abilities at an increased pace leading to even death of an individual.
Since deprenyl is a MAO-B inhibitor, it inhibits the production and working of MAO-B to break down dopamine. Deprenyl thus increases dopamine levels in the brain which in turn reduces stress, sharpen focus, improves brain function, alleviate depression and promote an overall feeling of health and well being.
Deprenyl thus proves to be an amazing treatment for alzhiemer’s disease and early parkinson’s disease where there is a progressive decline in the individual’s memory and mental ability to perform their day to day activities normally and efficiently.
Thus by increasing dopamine levels, deprenyl improves brain function and increases longevity in people suffering from mind and memory related mental disorders.
