Homosexuality A Glimpse to a moral clarification
Homesexuality  is romantic and/or sexual attraction or behavior among members of the same sex or gender refers to "an enduring pattern of or disposition to experience sexual, affectional, or romantic attractions" primarily or exclusively to people of the same sex "it also refers to an individual’s sense of personal and social identity based on those attractions, behaviors expressing them, and membership in a community of others who share them.”
Lesbians and Gays Lesbian is a term most widely used in the English language to describe sexual and romantic desire between females. Gay refers to the attraction of males towards each other. The term may also refer to homosexuals and interchangeable.
Why Are Some People Homosexual? Biological explanations Homosexuality is genetically programmed into some people. (No evidence and no “gay gene”) Sociocultural explanations Homosexuality is a learned pattern of behavior. Some researchers have found that homosexuals have disturbed relationships with their parents. Norms of ones peers during adolescence Soul (Psychological) –Gender identity problem Environmental Spirit Sinful response to unmet
Public Opinion on Homosexuality 49% say that homosexual relations between consenting adults should be illegal. 44% would not permit their child to read a book with a story about a same-sex couple. 61% say that homosexual marriages should not be legal. 42% oppose civil unions for homosexuals. 47% believe that gay spouses should not have the right to adopt children.
Attitudes about Homosexuality
What does the bible say? 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be : neither the sexually deceivedimmoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexual offenders . . . Will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you, Romans 1:26-27 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men
Homosexuality’s origin is not a sexual problem but a relational one. It started in an unhealthy relationship, and may be resolved through healthy relationships. Joe Dalla
Homosexuality’s drawback “May shorten life span by 20-30 years”    (Psychology Reports 1998, 83 p. 847-66) Higher rates of: –Sexual diseases –Cancer and heart conditions –Violence among homosexuals
Same-Sex Marriage: Why Not? The legalization of same-sex marriage will destroy the traditional family—God’s design. –Becomes merely a partnership and confuses theyounger generation –Men and women bring different qualities to therelationship –Will lead to polygamy and other alternatives
Nations that implement same-sex marriages United States( not recognized federally) Argentina Belgium Canada Iceland Netherlands Norway Portugal South Africa Spain Sweden
Homosexuality in the Philippines In the Philippines, the term gay has been used loosely to include Homosexuality|homosexuals, Bisexuality|bisexuals, Transsexuality|transsexuals, transvestism|crossdressers, and effeminate|effeminate men. Filipino gays are mostly stereotyped as effeminate, crossdressers, hairdressers, camp. Bakla or Bading, a Filipino word for gay, is commonly used; tomboyhas a similar function, and refers to lesbians, usually of the butch and masculine type. For Filipino gays, the Tagalog phrase "paglaladladngkapa" (literally means "unfurling the cape") refers to the Coming out|coming-out process. Although gays and lesbians are generally tolerated within Philippine society, there are still widespread cases of discrimination.
Bakla(gays) in the Philippines fall into two categories: 1. Effeminate gays or Effems- These include effeminate men, crossdressers and transsexuals, who may use make-up and dress in women's clothes. They tend to be concentrated in certain professions such as working in beauty parlors (thus the term parlorista) and in the fashion and showbiz industry as directors, writers, comedians and talk show hosts. Some work as entertainers, and a growing number work in Japan as female impersonators. 2. Straight-acting gays or Discreet - This population is found more in urban areas. These men are not effeminate and will not use make-up or cross-dress. They are found outside of the stereotyped gay professions. Sexual preferences vary with some willing to have sex with other Straight-acting gays while others will prefer straight men. Many also self-identify as bisexual, even if they only have sex with men, bisexual having been redefined locally to mean straight-acting. Straight-acting gays are called "paminta" in Manila and “maya” in Visayas andMindanao.
Other opinions and views A Jesuit Priest, John J. McNeill, reportedly said in a conference (Christianity Today, June 3, 1977), "There is no clear condemnation of homosexual activity to be found anywhere in the Bible." How does a church leader arrive at such a conclusion?
Conclusion As Pastor Regen Luna said, being homosexual is not a sin as long as it is under the complement of loving, committed and responsible relationship. What is wrong on the other hand is the act associated with it. This is being justified by the acts of people in Sodoma and Gomora(bible scriptures wherein male and female rape was widespread). Therefore, immoral acts of homosexuals must be condemned, one must recognize God’s law and Christian living.
Conclusion Jesus loves. . . people with. . . same-gender attraction
