 L1 is used for performing personal functions.
 L1 is an indispensable instrument of national
culture.
 According to Government of India “Learning
through the mother tongue is the most potent and
comprehensive medium for the expression of the
student’s entire personality.
 L2 is may be used as an auxiliary or associate
language slot filler, performing those functions
which are not normally performed by L1.
 Some of them also use it as international
language of knowledge, trade and industry.
 It is used by a selected groups of learners in a
very restricted set of situation.
 The main objective of Learning a Foreign
Languages is to have direct access to the speaker
of these languages and their culture.
 A Classical language like Sanskrit provides access
to ancient culture, learning and philosophy of life
and is assumed to contribute to the intellectual
enrichment of its learners….
 At the national level English serve as our Window on the
World.
 Important for industrial and economic development.
 It will be Function as a “Language of Development”.
 An international level Language is a “Link Language”.
 The “Library Language” function of English may have to be
stressed.
 English has important functions in communication of diverse
types.
 English continues “The Language of opportunity "and “The
Language of upward socio-Economics advancement will find
ability in English an asset.
 Here we can see about the language as a
second language in an India.Shivendra Kumar
give idea on this thing.
 Then we can see the objective of language is
very useful in the teaching in English language.

The Objectives of the English Language

  • 2.  Shivendra K Verma's third essay " Teaching English as a Second Language in India: Focus on Objectives"...In this essay he mentioned that objective of language and teaching as well as the aim of teaching English as second language in India.
  • 3.  Use of Language : Self-Expression Catharsis Cognition
  • 4.  He further decide this essay in 3 parts:- ● Bilingualism ● Trilingualism and ● Multilingualism  In this essay he mentioned 4 major skills :- 1. Reading 2. Writing 3. Speaking 4. Listening (RWSL)
  • 6.  L1 is used for performing personal functions.  L1 is an indispensable instrument of national culture.  According to Government of India “Learning through the mother tongue is the most potent and comprehensive medium for the expression of the student’s entire personality.
  • 7.  L2 is may be used as an auxiliary or associate language slot filler, performing those functions which are not normally performed by L1.  Some of them also use it as international language of knowledge, trade and industry.
  • 8.  It is used by a selected groups of learners in a very restricted set of situation.  The main objective of Learning a Foreign Languages is to have direct access to the speaker of these languages and their culture.
  • 9.  A Classical language like Sanskrit provides access to ancient culture, learning and philosophy of life and is assumed to contribute to the intellectual enrichment of its learners….
  • 10.  At the national level English serve as our Window on the World.  Important for industrial and economic development.  It will be Function as a “Language of Development”.  An international level Language is a “Link Language”.  The “Library Language” function of English may have to be stressed.  English has important functions in communication of diverse types.  English continues “The Language of opportunity "and “The Language of upward socio-Economics advancement will find ability in English an asset.
