2. Ecosystem
Interaction between living things and non living things
in a place. Ex: Aquatic, terrestrial.
Habitat
I’ts the place where an organism finds the FOOD,
WATER and SHELTER it needs, to live and survive. Ex:
ants colony.
Biome
It is a large area in witch we find the same
type of living organisms: animals, plants
and microorganisms. Ex: Desert
3. Food Chain
There are three groups: each group eats the group below .
Living things: animals, plants, microorganisms.
Producers: they produce their own food.
Ex: Grass, trees and plants.
Cosumers: They eat grass, plants and trees (primary C.),
other animals (secondary C.)
omnivores ( eat plants and wolf
animals)
Decomposers : They eat dead deer
animals. To obtain energy.
grass
4. Each group eats the
Decomposers grou below.
FOOD CHAIN
Herbivores Carnivores Omnivores
Animal Primary Secondary They eat
Plats Consumers Consumers plants and
microorganisms animals
They produce
Producers their own food.
5. AQUATIC ECOSYSTEMS
Aquatic ecosystemS are found in water. Rivers, lakes,
seas and oceans are aquatic ecosystems. There are two
types: fresh water or salt water ecosystem.
Rivers: These are cold rivers and warm rivers. In cold
rivers we can find, fish like trout of salmon. In warm
rivers you can find fish like pirarucu.
Lakes : a lot of plants and animals live in lakes for
example amphibians, duck s and gees.
Seas and oceans: cover most of the Earth surface.
Seawater is salty, there is big diversity of animals and
plants in oceans and seas.
7. TERRESTRIAL ECOSYSTEMS
Forests:
* They have a lot of trees because of RAIN and TEMPERATURE.
* In forests we can find: - Decidious trees ( fulla caduca)
- Evergreen trees (fulla perenne)
* They are divided in : - Temperate forests: there are four
seasons.
- Tropical forests: it is hot all year.
Grassland:
* The plants are grasses.
* They have long periods of rain and periods of drought (sequera)
* There aren´t enough water to be a forest.
* They are divided in: - Prairies: They have four seasons.
- Savannah: It rains a lot. There animals like
giraffes, zebras…
8. Deserts:
Deserts are hot an dry.
Desert cover 20% of surface.
Temperature in deserts experience great variations.
Plants and animals that live in deserts adapt to survive in
this extreme conditions.
Tundra:
They are cold areas covered with ice.
The soil that is permanently frozen, it is called permafrost.
Trees cannot live in frozen soil , so there are no trees.
Plants grow during the summer, when the light of the sun
partially melts the surface of the ground.
