Leonard Lehrer and His Influences
ICCM is a home for particular people from all over the world. ICCM develops
contents and methods for a critical and independent promotion and procurement of
culture, in close collaboration with an international community of creative artists,
researchers and experts.
SALZBURG, AUSTRIA, This Summer, International Centre for Culture and
Management (ICCM) it is hosting an American Artist: Leonard Lehrer and his
Influences.
Leonard Lehrer is a painter and printmaker whose work has been seen internationally for
several decades. He has had more than forty-three solo exhibitions; these include shows
in New York City, Philadelphia and extensively throughout the US, Germany, Austria
and Spain, including five one-person museum exhibitions. Museums that have collected
his work include the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New
York City.
The Exhibition Leonard Lehrer and his Influences is a part of ongoing collaboration
between Columbia College, Chicago and International Centre for Culture and
Management with the support of Stadt Salzburg. This exhibition is enabling discourse
for future international understanding between Europe and America in creating platforms
for art catalysts and sustainability.
For Leonard Lehrer thorughout his work he is developing into the formulation of the
"perfect instant" where past is redeemed in the present. This philosophy is echoing the
voice of a historian. Reminiscent of Walter Benjamin- a philosopher of history,
consistantly vigilant to those victims in the past. Leonard has lived with histories,
redeeming personal, kin and humankind. Leonard reworks happenings of the past into a
reality of present hope. Time, was now.
