Washington University, Cheney, WA with Donald Asher, an international well-known writer and
speaker dedicated to the professional and academic development. (July 7-9, 2014)
FIELD RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
2014 Conducted Interviews with correctional staff and non-violent drug offenders with the approval of
the EWU Institutional Review Board. The information collected was elicited through a
questionnaire with all interviews being conducted face-to-face. The study gathered the
perceptions/attitudes of the effectiveness of correctional education from non-violent drug
offenders and correctional staff (counselors, educators, correctional officers, and probation
officers) in Washington State. (August 2014- Present)
2013 Conducted Interviews with Latino business owners in Spokane, Chelan, Douglas, Grant and
Adams County. The information collected was elicited through a questionnaire (in English and
Spanish) with most of the interviews being conducted face-to-face and often onsite where they
ran their business operations. The study focused on Latino business owners who cover a broad
range of business sectors ranging from the most basic to the most sophisticated. (July-September

An event organized to raise funds for scholarships intended to help Hispanic students in higher
education.
2014 Fundraiser Coordinator, Think Pink Foundation
Money collected was donated to Think Pink Foundation, an organization focused on helping
people who have breast cancer disease at every stage of the journey from initial diagnosis,
through treatment and onto survivorship.
2014 Event Coordinator, Goodwill
Gathered coats, sweaters, pants and shoes to donate to local Goodwill donation center in
Cheney, WA.
2013 Event Coordinator, EWU TRiO
Collected perishable foods and clothing to donate to EWU TRiO. Food and clothing collected
were made available to community members who are of lower socioeconomic status and cannot
afford to purchase these items.
2013 Participant, Spokane Bloomsday
Participated to contribute to the collection of proceedings to the Boston Marathon bombings,
which occurred on April 15, 2014, killing 3 people and injuring approximately 264 people.
2013 Event Coordinator, West Center Community Center- Friday Night Jam
Participated to help coordinators of the program in Spokane successfully carry out the event for
community members and their families who are physically and mentally disabled. This is a bi-
weekly event that includes dancing, food and social activities for developmentally disabled
adults.
2012 Event Coordinator, American Cancer Center Relay for Life
Participated in Relay for Life to honor cancer survivors, remember those who have passed away,
and raised funds and awareness to fight back and help end cancer forever. Funds were raised by
participants through seeking sponsors. Funds were donated to the American Cancer Center Relay
for Life to further cancer research.
2012 Event Coordinator, EWU TRiO

2012 Volunteer, (Non-Profit) Local Farm Pe.a.c.h.
Helped local community farm P.e.a.c.h. build their greenhouse and harvest vegetables. It is a
nonprofit, organic farm that brings most of its produce to low-income Spokane families. Local
farm also aims to train low-income farmers and give them land from the P.e.a.c.h. farmland trust.
2011 Event Coordinator, PepsiCo
Collaborated with PepsiCo collect canned food and perishables from Wal-Mart consumers in
Airway Heights to donate to 2nd Harvest Food Bank.

2011 Volunteer, Feed Cheney
Feed Cheney occurs on the last Monday of each month and consists of a free meal, grocery
distribution, and some sort of entertainment. Feed Cheney is possible through generous donations
of time and goods from many community organizations.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
2014 Public Relations/Web Developer, TRiO Ronald E. McNair Scholar Program, Eastern Washington
University, Cheney, WA
The main purpose of this position was to increase visibility of Eastern Washington University
Ronald E. McNair Program on campus and within Washington State TRiO community. As a web
developer, I was responsible for improving the communication with current students, alumni and
faculty through the use of different social media programs. Additional technological
responsibilities included, managing files uploaded to the McNair Canvas course, updating
information of scholars on FileMaker Pro, updating information about the program on the EWU
CMS website. Other responsibilities consisted of creating program brochures, program tri-fold
top used for recruitment, documenting staff meeting minutes, arranging cultural events for
McNair Scholars, and arranging the Annual May Gathering event to celebrate the
accomplishments of the program and their scholars. (September 2011- June 2014)
