Geoff Slowman serves on multiple sustainability committees in Ashland that have seen recent successes including establishing a farmer's market, preserving forest land, and limiting new sprinkler systems. Two energy audits identified hundreds of potential energy conservation measures (ECMs) for town buildings with estimated savings between $2-25k annually and payback periods ranging from weeks to decades. The committees will review ECMs and consider future initiatives like green roofs on schools, a student liaison program, LED streetlights, bike paths, and fuel efficient vehicles.
