History • 1970 – “Surya Ram Maruti Technical Services Pvt Ltd” (MTSPL) started. • 1971 – “Maruti Ltd” incorporated. • 1977 – “Maruti Ltd” liquidated. • 1981 – “Maruti Udyog Ltd” Formed as a JV b/w GOI and Suzuki, Japan (74 : 26). • License to import 40,000 cars in India. • 1983 – Introduced Maruti 800. • 1983 – Production started at Gurgaon plant. • 1984 – Released Maruti Van. • 1985 – Introduced Maruti Gypsy. • 1986 – Introduced Maruti Alto.
