2. 1. Create a flat card illustration of Vienna skyline including the MAK or of the inside of the MAK, which would relate more to the
MAK. This would fit to my target audience as it would have relevant information for young teens that would hope to interest
them more in the areas I have chosen. It would be flat but areas would be folded and pushed out to create a slight 3D relief
style piece. That can either be used as display or just to be interesting for them to read and learn about the topic. This could
be quite difficult to create without making it too fragile as I want it to be something they can hold without feeling like they
could break it. To the right are some images of how it could work and below is an example of some of the buildings I could
involve or how it may look.
It wouldn’t be a card
it would be flat but in
the style of the cards
below. So you could
pop out the areas to
make it slightly 3D
3. 2.
Similar style to the
dollhouse cards, where
you can open multiple
layers as if you are
opening doors of the
MAK.
This piece was aiming to create a guide or souvenir booklet that a young teen can take away that
contains information that is relevant and exciting but not to detailed for that they would get bored. I
would have this as the MAK building on the outside then you open it up to the inside balconies and
different rooms that can be opened either side with information and photos. The difficulty with this is
the vast and changing amount on display at the museum and I’m not sure a teen of 16 would want
this as that’s the top of my age range.
4. 3.
A card of the MAK
building that pops
up, well detailed
possibly use the
lazer cutter to create
it.
Create a popup card that can be a souvenir,
decoration or gift card. It could either be the
Vienna skyline although could be difficult to
have as a detailed card like the ones below.
Although creating it just of the MAK would be a
lot easier and something that would sell well in
a gift shop. However it isn’t specific for my age
category and is unlikely they would buy a card if
they are 11-16.
5. 4.
A layered concertina
view with different
levels of the MAK
and areas in Vienna
Create a set style layer view of either the MAK or
inside the MAK or the view of Vienna. Either
using the lazer cutter or doing it by hand over
the top of a drawing or painting. This could be
quite effective for display. It is also quite
relevlant to my set design goals as its almost
like each set layer in a theatre.
6. Next Stages
◦ Make some mini mock ups.
◦ Come up with a plan for what is going to be on the piece I
choose.
◦ Look into artists and how they will influence my work
◦ Look into the work of others who have done a similar style to
me.
◦ Edit ideas in the style of Rocket and Wink one of the
designers I saw in Vienna.
