The negative effects of non-renewable fossil fuels have forced scientists to draw attention to clean energy sources which are both environmentally more suitable and renewable. By using the wind energy, power may be produced. The project entitled “Energy Produced by using the Wind Energy” is aimed to produce power with renewable source of energy like wind. In this project by using a small fan blade, electric power is produced by utilizing the drag force of the wind in a moving vehicle. This project aims to design a model for using wind energy to generate electricity which in turn may be used to run electrical utilities directly or through a storage battery.

  2. 2. Abstract : The negative effects of non-renewable fossil fuels have forced scientists to draw attention to clean energy sources which are both environmentally more suitable and renewable. By using the wind energy, power may be produced. The project entitled “Energy Produced by using the Wind Energy” is aimed to produce power with renewable source of energy like wind. 3. 3. Introduction : The negative effects of fossil fuels which are non-renewable have forced the scientists to draw attention to clean energy sources that are both environmentally more suitable and renewable. One of these sources is wind energy. Global wind energy market among other renewable sources has been experiencing a rapid growth especially during the last two decades. Wind is a fuel-free, inexhaustible energy source and does not cause pollution in electricity production. Today, wind energy is widely used to produce electricity in many countries in America, Asia and especially Europe.
  4. 4. • At first glance it is not evident why a non standard solution will be best for a low power wind turbine set. Nevertheless, car alternators are very rugged and both they and their spare parts are widely available in third world • Countries where other electric equipment is hard to find, or in any case, hard to repair. Hence the use of a car alternator as the generator in a wind turbine set for use in isolated third world locations is interesting, providing the other alternator characteristics are adequate for the application.
  5. 5. Objectives: • My objective is to discover wind energy obtained from small wind turbines attached to an electric car can provide enough power to charge the battery of the car while driving.
  6. 6. Car Alternators as Wind Turbine Generators : • The use of a vehicle alternator as the wind turbine generator offers the following advantages: • 1) They are commonly used in widespread applications such as cars, trucks, buses tractors and other farm and industrial vehicles. • 2) Great mechanical strength. • 3) Spare parts such as windings, rectifier bridges, voltage regulators, bearings, can easily be found in auto part dealers shops, in almost all towns in the world. Also car maintenance workshops, with mechanics able to perform basic maintenance work in this equipment can be found even in otherwise very isolated and backward locations.
  7. 7. • 4) Wide operating speed range, from 400 RPM to 8000 RPM, and good current generating capability, reaching 320 A in modern units. • 5) Available in standard output voltages of: 12, 24, 32 or 48 V. • 6) A range of matching heavy duty batteries are also widely available, designed to be directly charged from the car alternator. • 7) A range of matching (and rugged) integrated output voltage regulators are available in the market. • 8) Some special models offer three phase AC outputs. • 9) Low unit and spare parts cost. • 10) Easy maintenance. • 11) Tolerance to wide operating temperature changes without significant performance degradation.
  8. 8. Working principle of wind turbine : • The unit producing the power from wind is known as a wind turbine. Wind turbine (Rotor) mounted on a main shaft collects the kinetic energy from wind. • With the help of gearbox the speed is raised on the other hand it is fed to the electric generator shaft. • The electric generator converts this mechanical energy into electrical energy. Our project working principle is same as like that, it is water lifted by pump which is operated by wind turbine.
  9. 9. Examples:
  10. 10. Conclusion: • In the field of automobile sector, this kind of experiment is new. By implementing this system on an automobile, the fuel efficiency of an automobile increases without hampering environment. Moreover, the cost of the project is low and could be recovered within three years. In the first trial the expected results were not satisfactory. However, in second trial the output of 50W at the speed of about 100 kmph was achieved
  11. 11. • With this much output, any one of the electrical systems in the vehicle could be operated with the help of second combinations of fans. Again it is observed that when vehicle is accelerated the output increases and vice-versa.
