2. APPLIED OCEANOGRAPHY
Tidetech applies the science of
oceanography to create data products
designed to improve efficiency for a
range of maritime applications.
The data is used primarily by vessels
to optimise routing, reduce fuel, meet
environmental obligations and save time.
Global data products, created using
satellite observation and hydrodynamic
models, include tidal streams, ocean
currents, sea surface temperatures and
wave and meteorological forecasts.
Tidetech’s in-house team of world-
leading scientists, developers and
navigators can integrate data models
with navigation systems, software and
other custom applications, as required.
3. Tidetech’s commercial data products
are designed to improve efficiency at
sea, reduce bunker/fuel costs, help meet
environmental obligations and assist
customers to make informed decisions
based on accurate data.
Data products can be fully integrated, as
required, through third-party applications,
provided as raw data or customised to suit
bespoke systems.
Tidetech’s data products for commercial
use include tidal streams, ocean currents,
sea surface temperatures, wave and
meteorological forecasts.

TIDETECH IN ACTION
Tidetech is working with the world’s
largest cruise ship operator to help
reduce high bunker costs and meet its
environmental obligations. Using ocean
current, sea surface temperature, wave
forecasts and tidal stream data, delivered
to onboard systems, ship officers can
choose to optimise the ship’s route for
greater efficiency.
It has been demonstrated that bunker
savings of 1-4 per cent can be achieved.
