1. APPLICATION:
Tungsten carbide roll ring is applied to high-speed wire rod mill or Cold rolling ribbed steel bar mill.
Tungsten carbide roll ring possesses good thermal conduction property.Compared with other materials,it is
with higher heat-resistance,wear-resistance and strength.The hardness reduces less under the condition of
high temperature.So,It is invented with the ap-pearance of high speed wire rod mill.
With the development and improvement,it is widely applided in the production of high speed wire,bar and
deformed steel bar.
The material for our products,there are two series as Wc-Co and Wc-Co-Ni-Cr,which possess the good
comprehensive mechanical properties.The bending strength and impact toughness reach 2800 Nmm2 and
(4-6)*106J/㎡ respectively. The hardness and wear resistance is subject to tunsten carbide (WC), while the
toughness and strength depend on the binder (Co-Ni-Cr).
At present,the finishing mill is generally composed of 8-10 stands.Because of the big size of fracture surface
of rolled part,the collar on the front stands of finishing mill may resist heavy duty and strong impact.Thus,the
high hardness and good thermal fatigue resistance are the primary factors,which are prior to wear-resistance.
While there is low load and impact for the rear stands, we shall pay more attention to the wear-resistance and
thermal fatigue resistance of roll rings.
This manual describes the grades and properties of our Tunstan carbide roll rings in details, so that it is
helpful for you to make choice & operion, eaily.

6.1 GRADES
TR & YGR (Wo+Ni+Cr-binder) , YGH series (Wo-binder)
Grade Recommendation applications
TR06
It possesses the highest hardness and best wear-resistance among all the varieties of tungsten carbide toll rings, thus used for
the rolling of common wire and hard wire on the last stands of high-speed wire rod finishing mill.
TR08
It possesses better wear-resistance and moderate impact-resistance with the hardness second to TR06 among all the
varieties, thus used at the last two stands of high-speed wire rod finishing mill .
TR10
It possesses the moderate wear-resistance and impact-resistance and good versatility, thus used at the third-fourth stands
from the bottom of high-speed wire rod finishing mill or all the stands .
TR12 Because of the best versatility, it is used at the front stands of finishing mill and rear stands of common rolling mill.
TR14
It is usually used at the first or second of finishing mill, and also applies to the stands of rolling machine with low speed and
accuracy and varied technology.
YGH20 With high hardness. it is used for the rolling of common wire and hard wire at the last two stands of finishing mill.
YGH25 With good wear-resistance and moderate impact-resistance, it is used at the last two stands of finishing mill.
YGH30
With moderate wear-resistance and impact-resistance and good versatility, it is used at the last four stands of finishing mill or
all the stands.
YGH40 With the best versatility, it is used at the front stands of finishing mill and rear stands of common rolling mill.
YGH45
It is used at first two stands of finishing mill as well as the stands of pre-finishing mill, and also applied to the stands of rolling
machine with low speed and accuracy and varied technology.
YGH55 Because of fine toughness and hot crack resistance, it is used for the stands of pre-finishing mill and hot rolled steel collar.
YGR20 High wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Used in the last 1-2 stands of finishing mills.
YGR25 High wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Used in the last 1-3 stands of finishing mills.
YGR30
Good toughness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and thermal crack resistance. Used in the middle and rear stands of
finishing mill.
YGR40
Good toughness and thermal crack resistance, good for general purposes .Used in most stands of the finishing mill and in the
rear stands of common mill.
YGR45 Good toughness and thermal crack resistance. Used in the front stands of finishing mills.
YGR55
Good impact resistance. Used in the stands of pre-finishing rolling mills for hot rolling ribbed steel bars and they can be
machined with turning and milling

8. CAUTION
Tungsten carbide roll rings is composed of tunsten carbide and binding metal,which is one kind of tool material with high hardness and good wear-resistance.In
order to make full use of the above advantages of Tungsten carbide roll rings,during manufaceturing of high-speed wire rod, it shall pay more attention to the
following items.
8. 1.Make the correct choice for the tungstan carbide for the finishing mill.
Before determining the grade of cemented carbide for every stand, it shall have a through understand about their properties so as to make the correct choice
(Please refer to the above).
8.2.Installation of cemented carbide roll rings
The sleeve insertion and assmbly of tungsten carbide roll rings shall be carried out in accordance with the requirements of precision.There shall be appropriate
space between the roll rings and axle or between the roll rings and sleeve. It is neither tight nor loose.It should be checked whether the roll rings conforms to
the technological requirement, and clean the mounting surface of roll rings,sleeve and axle before the installation.It is prohibited to beat the roll rings with
hammer or other hard things while assemblying.
8. 3.Requirement for the cooling of rings and cooling water during rolling
Because of the negative effect of heat corrosion,thermal fatigue and thermal stress, the net-shaped thermal fatigue crack usually appears while working.With
the increase of cracks,small parts may come off and even the roll rings is broken.We adopt the cooling method to reduce the bad effect,prevent the cracksfrom
stretching and prolong the durability of rolling froove,which plays an positive role on the Tungsten carbide roll rings.
The paramenters of colling water are as follows:
Temperature no more than 35℃, pressure of 0.4-0.6Mpa,flow of 24-30m³per stand per hour, radical direcction for spraying water, the angle of 15-30°between
the spraying direction and rotating direction of roll rings. The water is twice as wide as the rolling groove, and directly sprayed into the groove without scattering.

Water quality requirement:
For YGR (Wo+Ni+Cr-binder) & YGH series (Wo-binder), Cooling water: PH≥7.2
For YGR、TR series (Wo+Ni+Cr-binder), Cooling water: PH≤7.2
The content of solid particles in the water<15 milligram/L
8. 4. Reasonal production
It is inevitable to find the microcrack on the rolling groove.The microcrack will gradually be extended,stretched and deepened.The groove shall be re-grinded
immediately, while the depth of crack is reaching to 0.2-0.4mm.
Otherwise,the crack will be deepened quickly,which leads to a risk of broken TC ring.
The range of normal production is regulated as dollows, it should be reginded when it is reached.:
Stands of pre- finishing roll mill: (3500-4000) tons
1-2 Stands of finishing rolling mill: (1800-2500) tons
3-4 Stands of finishing rolling mill: (1800-2500) tons
5-6 Stands of finishing rolling mill: (1500-2000) tons
7-8 Stands of finishing rolling mill: (1200-1500) tons
9-10 Stands of finishing rolling mill: (800-1200) tons
Stands for reducing diamenters: (800-1200) tons
8.5.Regrinding of groove
It is normal to find the microcrack on the rolling groove.The groove shall be reginded immediately while the depth of crack reaching 0.2-0.4mm.It is necessary

to prevent the roller from being broken.While regrinding, it must ensure to remove the crack thoroughly.Otherwise,it will bring a potential risk to next rolling.It is
difficult and inconvenient to check if the surface is polishing.To ensure the complete remove of microcrack,it can increase the grinding quantity.Under the
normal condition,the regrinding is controlled in the range of:
Roll rings for stands 9-10 of finishing rolling mill: (0.4-0.6)mm
Roll rings for stands1-8 of finishing rolling mill: (0.7-1.2)mm
Roll rings for s~nds of pre-finishing rolling mill: (1.2-2.0)mm

APPLICATION: Tungsten carbide roll ring is applied to high-speed wire rod mill or Cold rolling ribbed steel bar mill. Tungsten carbide roll ring possesses good thermal conduction property.Compared with other materials,it is with higher heat-resistance,wear-resistance and strength.The hardness reduces less under the condition of high temperature.So,It is invented with the ap-pearance of high speed wire rod mill. With the development and improvement,it is widely applided in the production of high speed wire,bar and deformed steel bar. The material for our products,there are two series as Wc-Co and Wc-Co-Ni-Cr,which possess the good comprehensive mechanical properties.The bending strength and impact toughness reach 2800 Nmm2 and (4-6)*106J/㎡ respectively. The hardness and wear resistance is subject to tunsten carbide (WC), while the toughness and strength depend on the binder (Co-Ni-Cr). At present,the finishing mill is generally composed of 8-10 stands.Because of the big size of fracture surface of rolled part,the collar on the front stands of finishing mill may resist heavy duty and strong impact.Thus,the high hardness and good thermal fatigue resistance are the primary factors,which are prior to wear-resistance. While there is low load and impact for the rear stands, we shall pay more attention to the wear-resistance and thermal fatigue resistance of roll rings. CAUTION Tungsten carbide roll rings is composed of tunsten carbide and binding metal,which is one kind of tool material with high hardness and good wear-resistance.In order to make full use of the above advantages of Tungsten carbide roll rings,during manufaceturing of high-speed wire rod, it shall pay more attention to the following items. 8. 1.Make the correct choice for the tungstan carbide for the finishing mill. Before determining the grade of cemented carbide for every stand, it shall have a through understand about their properties so as to make the correct choice (Please refer to the above). 8.2.Installation of cemented carbide roll rings The sleeve insertion and assmbly of tungsten carbide roll rings shall be carried out in accordance with the requirements of precision.There shall be appropriate space between the roll rings and axle or between the roll rings and sleeve. It is neither tight nor loose.It should be checked whether the roll rings conforms to the technological requirement, and clean the mounting surface of roll rings,sleeve and axle before the installation.It is prohibited to beat the roll rings with hammer or other hard things while assemblying. 8. 3.Requirement for the cooling of rings and cooling water during rolling Because of the negative effect of heat corrosion,thermal fatigue and thermal stress, the net-shaped thermal fatigue crack usually appears while working.With the increase of cracks,small parts may come off and even the roll rings is broken.We adopt the cooling method to reduce the bad effect,prevent the cracksfrom stretching and prolong the durability of rolling froove,which plays an positive role on the Tungsten carbide roll rings. The paramenters of colling water are as follows: Temperature no more than 35℃, pressure of 0.4-0.6Mpa,flow of 24-30m³per stand per hour, radical direcction for spraying water, the angle of 15-30°between the spraying direction and rotating direction of roll rings. The water is twice as wide as the rolling groove, and directly sprayed into the groove without scattering.

Reasonal production It is inevitable to find the microcrack on the rolling groove.The microcrack will gradually be extended,stretched and deepened.The groove shall be re-grinded immediately, while the depth of crack is reaching to 0.2-0.4mm. Otherwise,the crack will be deepened quickly,which leads to a risk of broken TC ring. The range of normal production is regulated as dollows, it should be reginded when it is reached.: Stands of pre- finishing roll mill: (3500-4000) tons 1-2 Stands of finishing rolling mill: (1800-2500) tons 3-4 Stands of finishing rolling mill: (1800-2500) tons 5-6 Stands of finishing rolling mill: (1500-2000) tons 7-8 Stands of finishing rolling mill: (1200-1500) tons 9-10 Stands of finishing rolling mill: (800-1200) tons Stands for reducing diamenters: (800-1200) tons 8.5.Regrinding of groove It is normal to find the microcrack on the rolling groove.The groove shall be reginded immediately while the depth of crack reaching 0.2-0.4mm.It is necessary
