Robotics
Line Following Robot, June 2015 – July 2015

&feature=youtu.be
I designed and built a robot which can follow any
black line on a white surface
The robot has 3 infrared sensors, 2 motors, and a vex
microcontroller
I wrote the code in easyC, and the code running this
robot is simple.
The code tells the robot to go straight if the middle
sensor reads black, turn left if the left sensor is black,
and turn right if the right senor is black.
The robot can also catch the line from around 60
degrees

Concrete Screw Pump, January 2015 – December 2015
For my senior design project I was part of a six man
team working on a concrete pump to be used in
conjunction with a robotic arm.
The pump would push concrete through a hose and
into a nozzle held by the robot which could then lay
the concrete into small walls and shapes.
I designed everything about the motor, driveshaft
section, and pumping mechanism.
I drew many parts for the project in Inventor, and I
fabricated most of the parts for my section on both a
mill and lathe.
To pump the concrete we decided to use an old corn
auger from a farm near by campus
Refrigeration
Automotive Surplus Heat Powered Refrigerator
In thermodynamics I worked in a team of 4 people
on a design project.
We designed a refrigerator that could run in the
back of a truck without adding any load onto the
engine.
The refrigerator’s compressor would run off of
electricity from a battery back that would be
continuously charged by an alternator while the car
was running.
The alternator could be ran off of the power
generated by a drive shaft from a small sterling cycle
which is powered only from the heat of the engin
