General Aim

To ensure, for all inmates of
adult correctional institutions
in Jamaica, the realisation of
human rights based on the
standards articulated by the
relevant United Nations tools
and the Jamaican Constitution
Objectives
To increase knowledge about and respect for human rights by
prison officials and inmates by executing human rights
workshops in one adult correctional centre (July 2008-
    March 2010)

To network with and forge partnerships with stakeholders
interested in and who have responsibility for inmate
rehabilitation by writing introductory letters aimed at
inviting them to a meeting to advance dialogue on support
    needed (July 2008-October 2008)

To promote public awareness of prisoner’s rights and the
human rights violations of inmates of adult correctional
institutions in Jamaica, as well as the potential impact on
the society by producing educational and advertising
materials on the issues and publishing them on the
Internet and in traditional media (March-December 2009)

To encourage national dialogue about the human rights
violations of inmates of adult correctional institutions in
Jamaica by engaging in media advocacy—talk show call-ins,
letters-to-editor, press releases, public concert, media
    interview (July 2008- Ongoing)

To encourage the mobilisation of family members of
incarcerated Jamaicans serving time in adult correctional
institutions in Jamaica by word-of –mouth in prisons and
introductory letters and key note presentations to
    churches (July 2008-July 2009)
