2. Assonance
• In poetry, the repetition of the sound of a vowel or diphthong in
nonrythming stressed syllables near enough to each other for the echo
discernible ( e. g., penitence, reticence ).
• Example :
• Go slow over the road
• Try as I might, the kite did not fly
3. Alliteration
• The occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or
closely connected words
• Examples:
• Peter piper picked a peck of pickled peppers
• She sells sea shells by the sea shore
