Is your wireless infrastructure ready for bring your own device? There are many ways to enable BYOD on your network, but have you considered using eduroam to enable this? Within Higher Education eduroam is a ‘best seller’. This session will give an insight into why eduroam is the solution for enabling BYOD on your network, sharing the experiences of providers in Wales and giving a viewpoint of eduroam usage in Wales. The Jisc Regional Support Centre Wales has worked with Further Education colleges in Wales to help them realise the benefits of using eduroam as their primary wireless access method and in understanding considerations which are specific to FE. With eduroam being used in the context of mergers and closer collaboration between colleges and universities.

- Jisc RSCs / RSC Wales support post-16 education providers in Wales. I’m a Technical advisors in Wales providing advice, guidance and support in managing their technical infrastructure.Clear that many providers were struggling with wireless access; there are some very poor solutions on many counts - security, accountability, and usability. We were pretty sure eduroam would be the perfect solution…Being an RSC also means being based at a University. Our hosts - Swansea University are heavy users of eduroam, experienced staff with one being an ‘eduroam mentor’ and developer of a configuration tool for eduroam, so we had a good base of knowledge locally to draw up on. In addition to the experience in the RSC team.Started a project in Summer 2012, working with three providers and continued from there.
