The document discusses a proposed art networking platform called MyiArts. It notes that 80% of artists have difficulty promoting their art and 71% of art enthusiasts struggle to find new art and artists. MyiArts aims to address these issues by creating an artist gallery, art enthusiast newsfeed, and artspotting app to better connect artists and art lovers. The platform plans to generate revenue through promotion of arts events, premium user accounts, and commissions on artwork sold through the marketplace. The founder and CEO have experience in art, technology, business and marketing to support this vision.

Where do you see the biggest opportunities
in the art market?
The biggest opportunities are in transparency in
reach, which can only be reached by an internet-
based platform. The art market is huge, growing
and geographically diverse, with two incumbents
dominating the top segment and fast pick-up in
China/ South America as buyer and sourcing
markets. This opens up opportunities for
disruptive business models. (Christian G. Nagel -
Earlybird Venture Capital)
What do you see as the biggest challenges in
the art market?
The art world is based in large part on trust and
relationships. Porting those two elements online is
something that would have been impossible a few
years ago, but the best of the online players today
have proved that collectors are willing to spend
hundreds of thousands of dollars on a piece of art
with the click of a button and without ever having
touched it before. Building brands and institutions
that carry the weight to instill this kind of trust will
be the key challenge for any player in the art world.

What people say about us…
Hinweis der Redaktion
Hello. My name is Dulce and I’m here to talk about Art. I’m an artist myself, a few years ago I struggled to have my work out into the market and it’s wasn’t because I was bad, but because unless I’m already a known artist or have connections, it’s difficult for me to promote and find the right buyer to my work!
The promotion of emerging artists and finding arts that you can identify with it’s a common problem on this market.
All over the world artists find it hard to promote their art without being known or having industry connections, and on the other hand Art Enthusiasts find it difficult to discover unique and affordable art unless they go to shops like IKEA.
All over the world the Art Community has been struggling with the same problems for quite some time: connecting to the right people, finding new artists and new art that people can identify and express our art tastes, are problems that the market hasn’t been able to solve. So we started to work on MyiArts…
A social marketplace that matches rising artists with art enthusiasts tastes, enabling the right art ending in the hands of the right person. After all just because something is popular doesn’t mean it’s right for you, or it's what you want.
We are also working on a mobile App based on the concept of Artspotting. Everyone wants to express creativity in their life's even if they are not artists. With this app anyone can take a picture of an Artwork, upload it directly into a personal gallery, having a chance to discover, collect and curate art.
On the first contact the artist will upload his art work and tag it. With MyiArts he will have a platform to showcase their creations; connect to other Artists; get inspired by Art Enthusiasts; and also sell their artwork.
The Art Enthusiast will answer a simple visual survey so we can trace his art tastes, that over time will be replaced by machine learning. Inside MyiArts they can curate their favorite artworks; will be able to connect to artists; stay informed about Art events; and buy unique and affordable art pieces.
We know that the need in this market is real because we manage to get on board 20.000 pre-registered users even before we had MyiArts opened to the public. And we did this by gathering strategic partnerships (like the Arte Institute of NY, Art Attack in London) and also through an ambassadors team that are top artists in several art areas.
The market for this is pretty huge. As of 2014 we had $3.6B and it is predicted to double until 2019. And this was just 6% of the whole art market. UK and USA are the most important countries on the Visual Arts market.
We know that we are not the only ones out there. But while some are more focus on the providing information about arts, others just seem to be targeting the sales. We want to engage our community so that the discovery and sales happen in a way that it’s tailored to each person.
We know that we aren’t the only ones out there. But this is why we believe in this project, because we hit the exact spot which none of the other guys have attacked.
For artists:
- Low-end marketplaces like Etsy are focused on prints as home decor and don’t really provide an appropriate forum for artists to promote themselves
- High-end marketplaces still use galleries as the gatekeepers, so they don’t serve emerging artists or let artists connect directly with their community
For buyers:
- Low-end marketplaces don’t offer “real” art or a way to discover new artists
High-end marketplaces are too expensive and don’t offer the connection with artists
Our competitive advantage is that through our platform, we create the human connection between Artists and Art Enthusiasts. First we are focusing on the most underserved markets that’s fine arts. Also we want to give our users a place where they can engage making a sale happen not only because it’s easy but also because it’s an emotional process. Last but not least we want to give a way for the users to express, curate and collect art.

How are we going to make money? Arts and events promotion, premium accounts, commissions on the marketplace and data analytics, translate into our sources of revenue. The last one will help our users analyse the biggest trends on the platform, identify market segments, find out areas of interest, so we can provide a useful engagement between users. After all Data is the new currency.
We are now getting feedback from our Artists, so we can improve our Beta Version that is going to be open for all users by April. Trough out of the time we are going to be adding new features and implementing tools that will engage our users such as our mobile app. Along with the Beta Version we want to open the marketplace so we can respond to our craving artists and art enthusiasts.
To achieve all these we have a team composed by professionals in the areas of IT, management, marketing and design. We understand the Art Space really well, together we have many years of experience in these areas. We have also on board some advisers that are helping us getting on the right track and with connections.
But to do all this we need resources. We are looking for a seed investment of $300K, mainly to increase users, get more traction and develop features such as Artspotting and marketplace.
In short we have what it takes to be successful. We want to democratize art to the world and we make it available for everyone! So if I manage to get your attention, visit our website and start arting!
Our projections show that we are going to reach 1M registered users within 1 year and will have revenues around 30M€ by 2018.
