Rationale:
My research interest has ever been in the area of music as means of enhancing comfort and
wellbeing. My growing interest in Marketing influenced the choice of my project topic as I believe that
this project will be a perfect opportunity to have an experience in this field. Therefore, the primary
aim of my work is to create a product that will inspire and draw the attention of my target audience,
leading to purchase of the promoted product.
During the next few months, I will be exploring different Marketing and Advertising methods. I will
also cover some research methods such as: Audience research, Existing product research and
Production Research, enabling the development and realisation of my final design.
Project Concept:
For my project I will be creating a promotional campaign for a music artist’s new album.
I will make it seem as if my artist will be dropping a new album by producing an album teaser being
between 1min to 2min long and two posters; one for an advertising Billboard and another one will be
a promotional poster which will be advertised on social media.
As the musical artist will be a twelve-year-old female (my sister), the target audience will mainly
comprise of kids/teenagers aged 10-14. The selection of the most suitable platform for
kids/teenagers will be based on the results of a survey carried out with children within that age
group.
Besides audience research, I will be looking into the modern music style, specifically the genre pop
and R&B as this is what I will be going for and what my target audience will be mainly into.
This project will also require a lot of topic research as this is my first promotional campaign project. I
will be looking at different marketing tools as well as music branding and music marketing.
I will also be exploring production research to study the structure of the Album teaser and above-
mentioned posters, the different editing software’s and the various elements that will improve the
quality of my project. In addition, I will study the appropriate colour schemes to be applied mainly on
the promotional poster. Furthermore, I will also be thinking about allocating my budget.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
After every task I will reflect on my work. This will help me evaluate myself and address potential
areas of improvement.

For my final evaluation, I will be comparing my work with an existing product and my last year’s
final print product. I will also request a feedback from my target audience. The self-reflection and
evaluation will enable me to identify my improvements, mistakes and areas for future development.
