 What is the meaning of the organization ?
 Organizations have major subsystems such as departments, programs,
divisions & teams etc.
 Each of these subsystems has a way of doing things to along with other
subsystems achieve the overall goals of the organization.
 How you interpret each of the above major parts of an organization
depends very much on your values and the nature.
 People can absolutely view organization as machines, organisms, families, groups
etc.
 Srilanka institute of information technology ( also known as
SLIIT ) is a public technology university in srilanka.
 It was founded in 1999.
 SLIIT is a member of the association of common wealth
universities and international association of universities.
 SLIIT enrolls approximately 7000 undergraduate and graduate
students.
 SLIIT offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Computing,
Business and Engineering.
Vision
 It is particularly implicated on Where do the organization want to go &
What do the organization want to become…………………
 Members of the organization often have some image in their minds
about how the organization should be working, how it should appear
when things are going well.
 When we considering the term of Vision It is mainly comprised of two
major components.
◦ Core Ideology – What we stand for and why we exist ?
◦ Envisioned Future – What we aspire to become, to achieve, to create something that will
require significant change & progress to attain
 An organization operates according to an overall purpose or
mission.
 That is to say:-
◦ What does organization stand for and try to accomplish
◦ Over ridding purpose in line with the values or expectations of
stakeholders.
 The components of the vision statement may be denoted as

 Objectives , Which are desired outcomes and goals which are more
concrete aims, both provide direction for the organization.
 These objectives also are recognized as specific targets. Specific,
Measurable, Achievable, Relevant & Time frame are the key
characteristics which should be the objective.
Vision of the SLIIT

advance and disseminate knowledge,

best serve the nation and beyond ‘’
Mission of the SLIIT
‘’To create a learning and research
environment with best possible resources
for students and staff to be innovative and
dedicated to excellence and to produce

The objectives of SLIIT highlight the following.

to reach international level.
Responsibility
 Responsibility has been defined in various ways.
 Mostly it is considered to be the duty to perform certain assigned
tasks in a satisfactory manner.
 It is governed by contractual as well as moral obligations.
 Contractual obligations ensure that the job is done and morality
ensures that it is done honestly and efficiently.
 Since responsibility is an obligation that a person accepts, it
cannot be delegated to the subordinate even if the activity is
performed by the subordinate.
 Authority has been defined as the right to
command.
 According to Henry Fayol, Authority is the right
to give orders and the power to exact obedience.
 The authority gives the management the power
to enforce obedience.
 It is the power to give orders and make sure that
these orders are obeyed.
 Delegation is the assignment of authority and
responsibility to others in order to carry out certain
assignments.
 The chief Executive cannot perform all the tasks of the
organization himself, so he must share his duties with
his immediate subordinates, who in turn delegate to
their subordinates and this process continues until all
activities are assigned to persons who are made
responsible for performing.
 This involves grouping of people or activities with similar
characteristics in to a single department, section, division or
unit.
 This facilitates communication, coordination, and control,
thus contributing to organizational success.
 It creates semi-autonomous units with independent
responsibilities, providing satisfaction to the managers and
executive officers which in turn improves efficiency and
effectiveness.
 According to the SLIIT Campus , we can obviously be divided in to two major
components of its top departmentalization.
 That is to say - Administrative department
- Academic department
 Thus, Administrative department can furthermore sub-divided in to key several
branches.
 Such as Finance department, Student’s affairs department, personnel department,
marketing department, Academic affairs department and Research and Development
department.
 Withal considering the Academic department, it may be categorized under key several
branches.
 For instance Undergraduate programs unit, Certificate programs unit, Diploma programs
unit & Postgraduate programs unit.
 Considering the SLIIT Campus, it is built as well as adopted on the following set of inter
related core values and concepts.
 These can be denoted as follows.
◦ Visionary leadership
◦ Customer-driven excellence
◦ Organizational and personal learning
◦ Valuing workforce members & partners
◦ Agility
◦ Focus on the future
◦ Managing by fact
◦ Societal Responsibility
◦ Managing for innovation
◦ Focus on results and creating value &
◦ Systems perspective
 The recommendations of ours to maintain an outstanding as
well as extra-ordinary progress consistently might me
rendered as follows.
◦ Affiliate with the foreign universities.
◦ Manipulating the joint degree programs.
◦ Recommended foreign training programs for academic and non- academic staff.
◦ Upgrading the academic programs periodically.
◦ Organizing staff development programs.
◦ Maximize the efficiency and effectiveness furthermore evidently in the operations of
the campus.
◦ Sufficient development of infrastructure entire the organization.
◦ Link with the potential industry & get the industry patronage.
◦ Organizing extracurricular & co curricular activities.
 These exceptional facilities are obviously offered by SLIIT for
its students.
 Laboratory Facilities
 Library Facilities
 Research & Development Facilities
 Entrepreneurship Development Facilities &
 Professional Development Programmes & Facilities
 Many type of Extracurricular & Co curricular activities are
conducted by SLIIT for its students.

recognized about SLIIT campus.
 Secondly focused on the terms of vision, mission, objectives of the any type of organization &
consciously explicated on the vision, mission, & objectives of our selected organization.
 After that we were obviously recognized on the term of responsibility, authority & delegation of
authority of the organization.
