THE EARTHS CRUST OR
VOLCANIC ACTION.

mostly unprepared for natural hazards that
inevitability occur.
Protecting people and Structures from
earthquakes requires an understanding of the type
of hazards associated with natural phenomena.
The Geologist study earthquakes to be able to
predict them in advance. This way they can help
people make better plans and preperations.

9. AT HOME BEFOREAN EARTHQUAKE
• Store Drinking Water, dried and canned goods.
• Prepare an earthquake emergency kit with nonperishable food, bottled
water, flashlight, whistle, first aid materials, blankets, spare glasses, and
other essential items. Store this kit where it will be easily accessible in
case of earthquake. Include food and medicine for babies or elderlies if
you have one in the families.
• Anchore heavy furniture down to the floor reinforce hanging objects such
as frame.
• Conduct an earthquake Drills
10. INDOOR DURINGAN EARTHQUAKE
• Immediately seek a safe location, such as beneath a sturdy
table or desk, or long an interior wall away from the
windows or hazardous objects.
• Cover the back of your head an your eyes to minimize
injury from flying debris.
• Beware of any falling objects or electrical wires.
If cooking, turn off hearing elements immediately.
12. OUTDOOR DURINGAN EARTHQUAKE
• Stay in open areas away from buildings , powerlines,
trees, and other potential hazards.
• If driving, stop quickly but safely and stay in the vehicle. Do
not stop near powerlines, bridges, overpass, or other potentially
dangerous location.
• Stay calm and brace yourself sitting if possible to keep your
balance.
13. AFTERAN EARTHQUAKE
• Be prepared for aftershocks, which may stronger than the
initial joint.
• Check for injuries and attend to them immediately emergency
assistance if necessary.
• Check for structural damage, but do not enter a building that
shows damage or has visile cracks in the walls or foundation.
14. AFTERAN EARTHQUAKE
• Be cautious in opening cabinet, cupboards, and close in
case items may be posted to fall.
• Keep phone lines clear emergency use.
• Be patient. It make take an hours or days to restore all
services depending on the severity of the earthquake.
