When doing this, they become part of the interdisciplinary team, which consists of the nurses and all the other professionals providing care to the
patient. It is an "approach in which two or more disciplines collaborate in the learning process with the goal of fostering interprofessional interactions
that enhance the practice of each discipline." (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2014, p. 1) Each healthcare member involved evaluates
and develops a specific plan of care related to their field. When they communicate that plan, discuss thoughts and ideas, and continually reassess their
plans with each other, a successful interdisciplinary team has been developed. Both teams are important to the patient and play huge roles in nursing.
With either team, "patients should expect an active role in, and often shared responsibility for, making care decisions that are best for them." (Paget et
al., 2011, p. 1) Likewise, both teams "should respect and support patients in this role, valuing their input, and prioritizing their preferences in shaping
care." (Paget et al., 2011, p. 1)
Communication Skills In order for both teams to collaborate and successfully provide care to the patient, they must possess effective communication

range of low income individuals (Tarazi, Green, & Sabik, 2017). However, due to stricter regulations in 2005 that reduced the number of those that
actually would qualify for Medicaid, many lost coverage. Due to the higher number of uninsured that no longer had the advantages of preventive
services, emergency room visits increased as a result. So if states can afford to adopt Medicaid Expansion, it can possibly be a benefit to a higher
number of patients by providing them with greater resources to aid in preventive care that may keep them from needing costly hospital care. For
other states, the expansion could be a true burden that may stunt their growth in advancing in healthcare. Medicaid expansion has been one of the
faulty issues with the Affordable Care Act that has limited its success (Hall, 2016). The fact that states are not required to adopt the expansion opens
up a greater chance that people at poverty level may not be available for any financial assistance for private insurance. This scenario shows the

issues, health care is expensive and hard to access. The high cost is tolerated in the belief that more expensive health care leads to better care. This is

Citizens in America obtain healthcare either through an employer, Medicare, or ,for the forty–five million, out–of–pocket. The number one in
healthcare, Japan, uses the Bismarck model system– healthcare through insurance. America is almost the same, except the Bismarck insurance insures
everyone without making a profit. Japan has more privately owned hospitals than America. This model can be funded several different ways for
cost–control. The reason we have not changed our healthcare system is because of federal debt. Half of the health care costs are paid by the
government. This debt will be America's downfall, but also the healthcare reform it so desperately
