“One of the most enduring cliches
about India is that it is the country of
contradictions . Like all cliches , this one
too has a grain of truth in it . At the
heart of the contradiction stand Indian
women : for it is true to say that they
are among the most oppressed in the
world and it is equally true to say that
they are the most liberated , the most
articulated and perhaps even the most
free . Can these two realities be
simultaneously true ?”
- Urvashi Butalia
REAL FACE OF INDIAN WOMEN
Fight For The Nation
“WHY” IS THE NATION’S CALL
§ THE UN has identified
violence against women “The
Most Pervasive” human rights
violation that we know today.
§ According to United Nations
Development Fund for
Women, violence is the major
cause of death and disability
for women .
§ Femicides , rapes , acid
attacks , murders , ill
treatment of widows are
some common cause of
women violation in INDIA .
EDUCATE A WOMEN , SHE WILL EDUCATE YOUR
NATION
§ There is direct relationship
between EDUCATION and
workforce participation .educating
women can change the scenario.
§ Creating formal sectors for
women employment and
nurturing girls at early age to
increase the employability and
the fortune of the country .
§ Special programs on women
should complement the
general development
programs .The later in turn
should reflect greater gender
sensitivity.
MEASURES TAKEN BY THE GOVERNMENT
§ SEVENTH PLAN :
1985 – Ministry of Human Resource Development
set up a department for women and child .
27 major women specific schemes identified for
monitoring to access quantum of benefits flowing to
women .
§ EIGHTH PLAN :
(1992-97) For the first time highlighted the need to
ensure a definite flow of funds from general
development sector to women .
§ NINTH PLAN :
30% Of all funds were sought to be ear marked in
all women related sectors .
Paper tenth plan indicates 42.9% of gross
budgetary support in 15 women related ministry.
§ TENTH PLAN :
Aims at initiating immediate action in tying up
the two effective concepts Women component
plan and Gender Budgeting.
CURRENT STATISTICS
§ About 11% of total women
population has college
education.
§ Women account for a third of
the student at university.
§ In engineering and business ,
proportion of women is much
smaller.
§ only 21% of educated women
work in secured sector .

We believe that establishing different
legal groups for women all over the
nation and linking them working
altogether for women welfare can be an
effective means to promote the agenda .
HUMBLEST WOMEN IS OUR
TEMPLE : MOTHER INDIA
§ Give her “ECONOMIC INDEPENDECE” . Still , a
women’s property is chattel and legally owned by a
man , may be his husband or father .
§ Nationalize the concept of FREEDOM and DIGNITY .
§ As Vivekananda has said ,“Liberty is the first
condition of growth .just as man has liberty to think
and speak, so he must have liberty in food and
cloth or in other things as long as he does not
injure others.”
§ EDUCATE HER . Modern India is still ill literate .
§ Enforce framed laws and provide desired security
to her.
§ Equality in law will guide the scenario.
§ Not a handful of women have joined politics and
come up for themselves.
§ Special e-teaching for citizens that will surely
enhance mentality of people .
§ I believe that india’s problems has simple solutions
but no takers .
STOP
DISCRIMINATIN
G
WHY WILL IT WORK
§ Awareness will definitely be the
change .
§ Educating a women will let her
realize where she stands .
§ Conducting integrated programs
for women , making them self
dependent will surely empower
them
§ Not only framing laws but also
getting them into play will
definitely uplift the standard of
Indian women .
§ Special programs for men to
make them realize that a nation
without women wont be a
successful nation will be a huge
change.
