5. Baazeechaa-e-Atfaal
baazeechaa-e-atfaal hai duniya mere aage
hota hai shab-o-roz tamaasha mere aage
(Bazeecha : small game, atfaal : juvenile, shab-o-roz : night & day)
Translation:
The world is like a playground for kids in front of me
From dawn to dusk, this theater is being enacted before
me.

6. Explanation
 Ghalib says that worldy affairs, in the context of its
challenges and delight is nothing more than a
children's sport to me. He dismisses the daily
struggle of life as merely a circus which just keeps
us engaged day and night. The word 'tamaashaa'
used here points to sense of needless drama and
theatrics.
 He expresses contempt for this world around us,
and for people who are simply so engaged, that
they ignore that this universe is only a layer in the
greater scheme of things…

7. Na tha kuchh to Khuda tha
Na tha kuchh to Khuda tha, kuchch na hota to Khuda hota,
duboya mujhko hone ne, na hota main to kya hota.
Translation :
God was, when there was nothing, Had there been
nothing He would still be there.
My being (existence) has ruined me, Had I not been, then
what would have been?

8. Explanation
 Ghalib says that when there was nothing, there was
Lord, and He will remain even if there's nothing. In
emptiness, there would still be a God. Only God will
exist in nothingness. My existence itself has let me
down. I'm suffering due to my existence, if I didn't
exist, what would I have been? Would it really have
mattered?
 Basically, he puts forth the argument that non-
existence would have been better than existence.
 Or is Ghalib asking, “Why god created us? Regardless
of whether or not there was anything, He'd still be
there ………
