This year, we received over 95 nominations – a testament to the importance of innovation in driving the corporate growth agenda. Kickbox Kickbox directly empowers the corporate entrepreneur through a suite of tools & training to help Adobe employees conceive, design, and develop new ideas. Kickbox delivers a structure framework, coaching, and $1,000 to make ideas real. 10

BEST INNOVATION PROGRAM Connected Home Lab The Connected Home Lab is a model home that creates a ‘real- life’ environment for testing new devices, how people interact with them, and to promote and support the sharing of learning across the enterprise to accelerate change. American Family Insurance Barclays Rise Open Innovation Platform Barclays created the Rise Open Innovation Platform to connect, co-create, and scale FinTech innovation - and to provide Barclays an effective way to source potential acquisitions / partnerships to build their own capabilities. The small nimble team works across a portfolio of 8 to 12 business opportunities with 8 businesses already in market (early testing to early scaling). Citi Mobile Challenge Citi Mobile Challenge is a next-generation accelerator that combines a virtual hackathon with an incubator, supported by a worldwide network of FinTech experts and Citi’s top global sponsors and clients. 12

It offers incubation for a team exploring areas like Blockchain, startup partnerships, and employee engagement and training. John Hancock NBCNews NewsConnect NewsConnect is a platform that consolidates, organizes, and distributes all information about a news story by capturing info. from myriad sources (e.g., feeds, social media, legal, journalists). Users following the story can then share breaking devlopments with the public. 13
  • 16. Pearson Marriott International The Underground The Underground is an innovation space to develop and test new designs for rooms, operations and features. Concepts have been rolled out across the Marriott portfolio of properties. One Pearson: Global PLC The Global Product Lifecyle initiative aims to create “One Pearson” through consistent product development processes and lifecycle management. Pearson has moved from pilot to roll-out, training 34 coaches and 1k employees to-date. 14

BEST INNOVATION PROGRAM Masters of Code Competition Masters of Code Competition is a year-long global hackathon series showcasing MasterCard’s new products and encouraging uptake of their API portfolio. The competition challenges developers to create the next big thing using MasterCard APIs. MasterCard NewYork DailyNews Daily News Innovation Lab The Daily News Innovation Lab works collaboratively with startups on products to address publisher needs and support industry transformation. One startup has graduated, and a second has been accepted. 15

MaRS Rose-Hulman Institute ofTechnology(RHIT) KEEN Entrepreneurially-Minded Learning (EML) Ecosystem RHIT’s Entrepreneurially-Minded Learning (EML) Ecosystem seeks to transform the way in which new products are conceived and developed within the medical devices space through sharing of knowledge. FinTech Cluster MaRS addressed the lack of an innovation eco-system for Financial Services in Toronto by developing a dedicated FinTech Cluster which has delivered multiple international banking partnerships, and supported FinTech start-ups. 16

SPG keyless entry was an early innovation success - next up, customizable rooms that cater to individual guest tastes. The New York Times R&D Lab The New York Times R&D Lab develops working applications and prototypes -- ranging from data viz to interactive furniture -- that bring-to-life the potential impact of trends and technologies. Fingerprint Identification Fingerprint Identification enables customers to prove their identity without the need for paper boarding passes, or identification documents - allowing them to speed through the airport experience at the touch of a finger.
