The document discusses plans by the ISSN International Centre (ISSN IC) to improve integration and resolution of ISSN identifiers. This includes: 1) More systematically including ISNIs in ISSN records and linking ISSNs to the ISNI database; 2) Establishing ISSNs as actionable identifiers that can resolve to serial metadata and digital resources through various resolver services; and 3) Sharing a subset of ISSN metadata with Wikidata under an open license to further disseminate serial information. The ISSN IC is seeking community feedback on its strategies.

As of January 2020, 27,895 ISSN records (1%)
contain ISNIs.
ISSN IC Strategy 2024 provides for the
following actions:
• to retrieve ISNIs more systematically for corporate
contributors thanks to the SRU API,
• to investigate assignment of ISNIs to newly identified
corporate contributors or possibly to publishers and
brands in compliance with international initiatives in this
area.
