ICF-CO Leadership Team
We Are Pleased to Announce . . .
by Dr. Lisa Hale, PCC, President, ICF Colorado
Dear Members of the International Coach Federation – Colorado
Chapter.
Y/our brilliant President-Elect (Jacquie Fedo) and your President
(that’s me! Lisa Hale) received the following email from ICF-Global.
Dear Jacquie and Lisa,
Congratulations! ICF Colorado has been named a finalist in the 2017 ICF
Chapter Recognition program.
Chapter Recognition honorees are selected based on their annual Chapter
Activity Reports and evaluated according to ICF's criteria for high-performing
chapters. Based on these criteria, a high-performing ICF Chapter:
Creates an attractive, credible presence and voice for professional
coaching in its local community
Exhibits qualities of a high-performing chapter (namely, agility,
adaptability, accountability, sustainability, caring, innovation and
relevance)
Creates sustainable governance
Ensures financial viability
Defines and manages culture
Ensures infrastructure
Honorees will be announced during three different general sessions at the
2018 Global Leaders Forum (GLF). If your Chapter is selected as an honoree,
it will be announced on Friday, March 16, from 1:30–1:55 p.m. At that time,
GLF attendees from recognized Chapters will be invited onstage and given 1
minute each to make a brief acceptance speech.
We recommend that GLF attendees from each finalist Chapter come prepared
with a one-minute acceptance speech in the event that their Chapter is
honored.
I look forward to seeing you in Vancouver at GLF 2018. In the meantime,
please feel free to reach out if there’s anything I can do to be of assistance.
Best wishes,
We will both be at the GLF summit in Vancouver in two weeks representing the Colorado
chapter. The GLF is the Global Leaders Forum for ICF Global. ICF Global has over 140
chapters worldwide, on every continent, and 40,000 members. This summit is the
gathering of chapter leaders from around the world to learn from each other, share ideas,
and help each other solve problems.
I believe it was a direct result of the GLF summit in Warsaw, Poland last year (2017) that
our chapter leadership got real clarity of vision on how we might best support you to:
Grow your coaching practice through professional excellence
Grow yourself continuously as a coach
Expand and deepen your skills, perspective and resources
Connect with other professionals committed to excellence in coaching
Grow your professional and even personal community
Have fun creating the life of your dreams
And contribute your unique skills and strengths to the continued growth and health
of our chapter and profession
As a result of the board’s efforts this past year, there are a number of changes to the
chapter that directly serve you:
We have changed the format of our Special Interest Groups to a virtual meeting
format that makes them more widely accessible. All but one of these groups used to
meet during our monthly in-person meetings, and now they meet throughout the
month. They are called Education Groups; we have doubled our number of
offerings, and you can sign on for as many of them as you want, as an active
member who has paid the annual activity fee.
1.
We have a vastly improved venue! It is professional, accessible and conducive to
professional excellence!
2.
We have created a sustainable financial model that provides us with options to offer
more resources, better food at our monthly meetings, and excellent business
development opportunities and programming.
3.
We have launched the first ever Leadership Coaching Pilot Program in partnership
with the University of Colorado-Denver, and have plans to create several more
similar programs for all level of coaches. This program provided revenue to the
chapter - and even more exciting This program has:
4.
exposed coaches to institutional clientele. Already it has created private
business for some of the participating coaches;
provided paid coaching hours and experience in this coaching niche;
continued to raise awareness of the efficacy and power of professional
coaching in the successful development ofleaders and the reimagining of
leadership culture in the academic domain.
Our board has instilled a sustainable board governance model with succession
planning.
5.
And our board is large enough that serving is fun, not overwhelming, and we have a
clear shared vision, mission and purpose. We enjoy a tremendous sense of team
and purpose.
6.
In short, our chapter stands for Professional Excellence in Coaching – for the visibility of
professional coaching in Colorado and for the enhancement of community among our
professional peers.
One of the reasons this chapter has grown so beautifully in this last 16 months is that we
assembled our board with the following intentions:
Good Will
From Good Will comes Great Energy - When we bring our best selves, we in turn give
each other Great Energy.
Many Hands
Many hands make light work. There isn't a person who coaches and supports others who
isn't spinning a LOT of plates. Truly many hands make light work. Why does this work?
There is an inherent pay off in serving: Above all, credentialing and professionalizing
coaching serves us all. It is worthwhile to give our energy to furthering the profession of
which we all are a part.
Enthusiasm
It is my intention that each of us will contribute to the brain trust that is ICF-CO and bring
our gifts for all of our members to see and enjoy. From being on YOUR purpose, you will
naturally bring enthusiasm to whatever post you hold. Together we can amplify what is
great about ICF-CO with a willingness to make it even better.
Creativity
We have an opportunity to bring creativity to our roles. Creativity comes from open hearted
curiosity and produces innovation.
Commitment
This board needs to work - being on it must work for each of us; and our service ust work
for ICF-CO members. To that end, our board leadership supports members in making their
lives, and their businesses work.
I think you will agree that this is now what our chapter feels like! And it is clear that
committing fiercely ripples out to those we serve. Imagine how this applies in your life!
What are you fiercely committed to?
We are here to serve you. We invite you to reach out if you would like to be part of a
dynamic team and experience the learning, the personal and professional development
that board service provides, and the opportunity to give to your own community in
meaningful and creative ways!
Blessings to you all,
Lisa
Getting To a Powerful “Yes” –
How to Enroll Clients to Fill Your Practice with Ease
March 21st Virtual Program
Date: March 21, 2018
Time: 7:00 - 8:30pm MT
"Getting To a Powerful “Yes” – How to Enroll Clients to Fill Your Practice with Ease"
Location:
Virtual Program (Webinar)
CCEs: 1.5 in Core Competencies
Speaker:
Tara Butler Floch, PCC
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
One of the biggest challenges that Coaches face is powerfully enrolling committed clients.
Did you know that the average coach has only 1 paying client a year after they’ve been
certified? Furthermore, there are countless number of talented coaches who are
undercharging for their transformational work in order to get a “yes” from potential clients
because they can’t enroll prospects effectively at the rate they deserve. If you want to
have a sustainable, full practice full of committed clients then it’s key to master the art of
client enrollment. Unfortunately, most enrollment methods taught by the Marketing “Gurus”
don’t work well for coaches, who want to have an authentic and genuine connection with
their prospects and not be too “salesy." Conversely, giving away free sample sessions
may give the prospective client a great coaching experience but rarely leads to a powerful
conversation about working together. This presentation Getting To a Powerful “Yes” –
how to enroll clients to fill your practice with ease you will learn how to:
Create the coaching container to have deep learning and insight, and lead your
prospect down a path to work with you, simultaneously
Create your own enrollment template using our methodology and process for client
enrollment conversations
Frame your enrollment conversations to create clear expectations for the experience
(no bait and switch!)
Hold a perspective that serves your ideal outcome and serves the client
Handle and navigate sticky issues around money
Get to a clear and powerful “yes” or “no”
(no more wishy washy-ness!)
Whether you have been a coach for a year or a decade, there will be great nuggets for you
to learn from this presentation. This methodology works well for both coaching and
consulting services and can be used effectively with either individuals or a corporate
environment. Whether you are a leadership coach and consultant, or a life coach, this
methodology can be customized to create a powerful enrollment conversation that will
create a powerful, committed “yes” from clients who you know are meant to work with you.

A Simple Process for Lasting Change
April 5, 2018 In-Person Meeting
Date: April 5, 2018
*Please Note - the April meeting is the first Thursday of the month
Time: 6:00 - 8:30pm MT
"A Simple Process for Lasting Change"
Location:
CU Denver, 1380 Lawrence downtown, 2nd Floor, D, enver, CO
CCEs: TBA
Speaker: Laurie Weiss, MCC, Ph.D., and Jonathan B. Weiss, Ph.D
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
*Please Note:
The April meeting is the first Thursday of the month.
Drs. Jonathan and Laurie Weiss will teach us about Logosynthesis®, a deceptively simple
technique for removing obstacles to lasting change. Based on a spiritual point of view, this
approach frees up the basic life energy that gets stuck in reaction to past, present or
anticipated stressful situations.
Participants will learn to identify and diffuse the triggers to these reactions and support
clients in using the freed-up energy to achieve their goals.
The presentation will focus on how to use Logosynthesis® for coaching others and for Self-
Coaching and stress reduction. Coaching demos with volunteers from the group will
provide an opportunity to see how this approach is used in facilitating deep and lasting
change. We will then break out into small groups to practice a key part of the process.
About Laurie and Jonathan Weiss
Laurie Weiss, MCC, Ph.D., and Jonathan B. Weiss,
Ph.D., are partners in life and work. These internationally
recognized authors, psychotherapists and relationship
specialists have been married (to each other) more than
55 years, and have more than 45 years’ experience as
business partners, coaching people in powerful ways to
improve the quality of their lives and relationships.
The Weisses have been introducing State-of-the-Art personal development tools to
Colorado since they opened their practice:
Transactional Analysis, 1969 (Games People Play, I’m OK, You’re OK)
Money & You: Management by Agreement, 1980 (which inspired the Win/Win
Forum)
Effective Inner Child Work, 1989 (recommended by John Bradshaw)
And now, Logosynthesis®
They are the only Certified Logosynthesis® Practitioners and Trainers in the United States.
Laurie is the recent author of Letting it Go: Relieve Anxiety and Toxic Stress in Just a Few
Minutes Using only Words, an introduction to Logosynthesis® for the public.

Latest News from
our Co-Education Directors
We’re always looking for great programs for the chapter. If you’d like to lead a program
yourself (webinar or in-person), fill out the form which we use to capture all the essential
information. And if you’ve heard of a great speaker, please contact Carl or Suzanne so we
can make the connection!
And I’d like to recognize the great work of our Education Group leaders:
As you’ve seen, we changed how we support smaller education groups in 2018. The new
structure is much more based on using virtual tools, so you can sign up for multiple groups
and participate from the comfort of your home or office. This change has been quite
popular, and groups are filling up. Please check out the groups and sign up for the ones
most valuable for you!
The virtual groups are also accessible for other coaches across the state. If you know of a
coach who might find them useful, make sure to let them know they can sign up! We
welcome all, as long as we have space available.
And we’d like to recognize the brilliant work by the coaches leading these groups. They’re
talented, skilled, and wonderfully generous!

Important: Notice about CCEs
Our Colorado ICF Chapter encourages all
members to be credentialed with the ICF
and to continue to improve their coaching
skills by striving to achieve the next level
of credentialing. Many coaches find that
Professional Coaches: 77

(40%)
This information is supplied to give
you a "bird’s eye" view of where our
Chapter stands in having ICF

.
the choice to pursue credentialing is often
driven less by any external requirement
and more by the desire to up-level the skill
and range of our coaching and attain
greater mastery, thus enabling us to
deliver more value to current and future
clients.
To qualify for a credential, a certain
number of coach-specific training hours
are required. To renew a credential, 40
CCE’s (Continuing Coach Education)
hours are required. Our Chapter can
supply some of these hours for you
through attendance at monthly meetings or
participation in special events, such as
webinars, workshops, and the ICF-CO
Conference. If you anticipate needing
CCEs, you can register to receive them
when you sign up on our website to attend
any of our events for which CCE's are
being offered.
Even if you’re not currently pursuing
credentialing (or advanced credentialing),
we suggest that you request the CCE
certificate whenever the option is offered,
and keep it on file for later use, as
needed. You can also ask our Virtual
Assistant, Kelly Johnson, to provide you
with CCE certificates going back as far as
two years previous (but no farther than two
years). Kelly may be reached at
303-840-5994 or at
kjohnson@cornerstoneva.com. Please
allow at least two weeks advance notice to
process your request.

March 2018 ICF Colorado Newsletter

  • 1. View this email in your browser March 2018 IN THIS ISSUE Message from Lisa Hale, ICF-CO President March 21: Virtual Program April 5th: In-Person Meeting Latest News on Programs: March- June Education Groups Credentials Corner & Notice About CCEs ICF-CO Leadership Team We Are Pleased to Announce . . . by Dr. Lisa Hale, PCC, President, ICF Colorado Dear Members of the International Coach Federation – Colorado Chapter.
  • 2. Y/our brilliant President-Elect (Jacquie Fedo) and your President (that’s me! Lisa Hale) received the following email from ICF-Global. Dear Jacquie and Lisa, Congratulations! ICF Colorado has been named a finalist in the 2017 ICF Chapter Recognition program. Chapter Recognition honorees are selected based on their annual Chapter Activity Reports and evaluated according to ICF's criteria for high-performing chapters. Based on these criteria, a high-performing ICF Chapter: Creates an attractive, credible presence and voice for professional coaching in its local community Exhibits qualities of a high-performing chapter (namely, agility, adaptability, accountability, sustainability, caring, innovation and relevance) Creates sustainable governance Ensures financial viability Defines and manages culture Ensures infrastructure Honorees will be announced during three different general sessions at the 2018 Global Leaders Forum (GLF). If your Chapter is selected as an honoree, it will be announced on Friday, March 16, from 1:30–1:55 p.m. At that time, GLF attendees from recognized Chapters will be invited onstage and given 1 minute each to make a brief acceptance speech. We recommend that GLF attendees from each finalist Chapter come prepared with a one-minute acceptance speech in the event that their Chapter is honored. I look forward to seeing you in Vancouver at GLF 2018. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out if there’s anything I can do to be of assistance. Best wishes, We will both be at the GLF summit in Vancouver in two weeks representing the Colorado chapter. The GLF is the Global Leaders Forum for ICF Global. ICF Global has over 140 chapters worldwide, on every continent, and 40,000 members. This summit is the gathering of chapter leaders from around the world to learn from each other, share ideas,
  • 3. and help each other solve problems. I believe it was a direct result of the GLF summit in Warsaw, Poland last year (2017) that our chapter leadership got real clarity of vision on how we might best support you to: Grow your coaching practice through professional excellence Grow yourself continuously as a coach Expand and deepen your skills, perspective and resources Connect with other professionals committed to excellence in coaching Grow your professional and even personal community Have fun creating the life of your dreams And contribute your unique skills and strengths to the continued growth and health of our chapter and profession As a result of the board’s efforts this past year, there are a number of changes to the chapter that directly serve you: We have changed the format of our Special Interest Groups to a virtual meeting format that makes them more widely accessible. All but one of these groups used to meet during our monthly in-person meetings, and now they meet throughout the month. They are called Education Groups; we have doubled our number of offerings, and you can sign on for as many of them as you want, as an active member who has paid the annual activity fee. 1. We have a vastly improved venue! It is professional, accessible and conducive to professional excellence! 2. We have created a sustainable financial model that provides us with options to offer more resources, better food at our monthly meetings, and excellent business development opportunities and programming. 3. We have launched the first ever Leadership Coaching Pilot Program in partnership with the University of Colorado-Denver, and have plans to create several more similar programs for all level of coaches. This program provided revenue to the chapter - and even more exciting This program has: 4. exposed coaches to institutional clientele. Already it has created private business for some of the participating coaches; provided paid coaching hours and experience in this coaching niche; continued to raise awareness of the efficacy and power of professional coaching in the successful development ofleaders and the reimagining of leadership culture in the academic domain. Our board has instilled a sustainable board governance model with succession planning. 5. And our board is large enough that serving is fun, not overwhelming, and we have a clear shared vision, mission and purpose. We enjoy a tremendous sense of team and purpose. 6.
  • 4. In short, our chapter stands for Professional Excellence in Coaching – for the visibility of professional coaching in Colorado and for the enhancement of community among our professional peers. One of the reasons this chapter has grown so beautifully in this last 16 months is that we assembled our board with the following intentions: Good Will From Good Will comes Great Energy - When we bring our best selves, we in turn give each other Great Energy. Many Hands Many hands make light work. There isn't a person who coaches and supports others who isn't spinning a LOT of plates. Truly many hands make light work. Why does this work? There is an inherent pay off in serving: Above all, credentialing and professionalizing coaching serves us all. It is worthwhile to give our energy to furthering the profession of which we all are a part. Enthusiasm It is my intention that each of us will contribute to the brain trust that is ICF-CO and bring our gifts for all of our members to see and enjoy. From being on YOUR purpose, you will naturally bring enthusiasm to whatever post you hold. Together we can amplify what is great about ICF-CO with a willingness to make it even better. Creativity We have an opportunity to bring creativity to our roles. Creativity comes from open hearted curiosity and produces innovation. Commitment This board needs to work - being on it must work for each of us; and our service ust work for ICF-CO members. To that end, our board leadership supports members in making their lives, and their businesses work. I think you will agree that this is now what our chapter feels like! And it is clear that committing fiercely ripples out to those we serve. Imagine how this applies in your life! What are you fiercely committed to? We are here to serve you. We invite you to reach out if you would like to be part of a dynamic team and experience the learning, the personal and professional development that board service provides, and the opportunity to give to your own community in meaningful and creative ways!
  • 5. Blessings to you all, Lisa Getting To a Powerful “Yes” – How to Enroll Clients to Fill Your Practice with Ease March 21st Virtual Program Date: March 21, 2018 Time: 7:00 - 8:30pm MT "Getting To a Powerful “Yes” – How to Enroll Clients to Fill Your Practice with Ease" Location: Virtual Program (Webinar) CCEs: 1.5 in Core Competencies Speaker: Tara Butler Floch, PCC ABOUT THE PROGRAM One of the biggest challenges that Coaches face is powerfully enrolling committed clients. Did you know that the average coach has only 1 paying client a year after they’ve been certified? Furthermore, there are countless number of talented coaches who are undercharging for their transformational work in order to get a “yes” from potential clients because they can’t enroll prospects effectively at the rate they deserve. If you want to have a sustainable, full practice full of committed clients then it’s key to master the art of client enrollment. Unfortunately, most enrollment methods taught by the Marketing “Gurus” don’t work well for coaches, who want to have an authentic and genuine connection with their prospects and not be too “salesy." Conversely, giving away free sample sessions may give the prospective client a great coaching experience but rarely leads to a powerful conversation about working together. This presentation Getting To a Powerful “Yes” – how to enroll clients to fill your practice with ease you will learn how to:
  • 6. Create the coaching container to have deep learning and insight, and lead your prospect down a path to work with you, simultaneously Create your own enrollment template using our methodology and process for client enrollment conversations Frame your enrollment conversations to create clear expectations for the experience (no bait and switch!) Hold a perspective that serves your ideal outcome and serves the client Handle and navigate sticky issues around money Get to a clear and powerful “yes” or “no” (no more wishy washy-ness!) Whether you have been a coach for a year or a decade, there will be great nuggets for you to learn from this presentation. This methodology works well for both coaching and consulting services and can be used effectively with either individuals or a corporate environment. Whether you are a leadership coach and consultant, or a life coach, this methodology can be customized to create a powerful enrollment conversation that will create a powerful, committed “yes” from clients who you know are meant to work with you. She has helped hundreds of emerging entrepreneurs create prosperous businesses since 2000, when she started her coaching and training company, Broadview Coaching. Weiss, Ph.D ABOUT THE PROGRAM *Please Note: The April meeting is the first Thursday of the month. Drs. Jonathan and Laurie Weiss will teach us about Logosynthesis®, a deceptively simple technique for removing obstacles to lasting change. Based on a spiritual point of view, this approach frees up the basic life energy that gets stuck in reaction to past, present or anticipated stressful situations. Participants will learn to identify and diffuse the triggers to these reactions and support clients in using the freed-up energy to achieve their goals.
  • 8. The presentation will focus on how to use Logosynthesis® for coaching others and for Self- Coaching and stress reduction. Coaching demos with volunteers from the group will provide an opportunity to see how this approach is used in facilitating deep and lasting change. We will then break out into small groups to practice a key part of the process. About Laurie and Jonathan Weiss Laurie Weiss, MCC, Ph.D., and Jonathan B. Weiss, Ph.D., are partners in life and work. These internationally recognized authors, psychotherapists and relationship specialists have been married (to each other) more than 55 years, and have more than 45 years’ experience as business partners, coaching people in powerful ways to improve the quality of their lives and relationships. • 9. Latest News from our Co-Education Directors We’re always looking for great programs for the chapter. If you’d like to lead a program yourself (webinar or in-person), fill out the form which we use to capture all the essential information. And if you’ve heard of a great speaker, please contact Carl or Suzanne so we can make the connection! And I’d like to recognize the great work of our Education Group leaders: As you’ve seen, we changed how we support smaller education groups in 2018. The new structure is much more based on using virtual tools, so you can sign up for multiple groups and participate from the comfort of your home or office. This change has been quite popular, and groups are filling up. Please check out the groups and sign up for the ones most valuable for you! The virtual groups are also accessible for other coaches across the state. If you know of a coach who might find them useful, make sure to let them know they can sign up! We welcome all, as long as we have space available. And we’d like to recognize the brilliant work by the coaches leading these groups. They’re talented, skilled, and wonderfully generous! Professional Coaches: 77 Coaches who are global members: 68 Credentialed Coaches ACC: 19 (25%) PCC: 19 (25%) MCC: 8 (10%) Total Credentialed Coaches: 46 (60%) Non-Credentialed Coaches: 31 (40%) This information is supplied to give you a "bird’s eye" view of where our Chapter stands in having ICF credentialed coaches. . the choice to pursue credentialing is often driven less by any external requirement and more by the desire to up-level the skill and range of our coaching and attain greater mastery, thus enabling us to deliver more value to current and future clients. To qualify for a credential, a certain number of coach-specific training hours are required. To renew a credential, 40 CCE’s (Continuing Coach Education) hours are required. Our Chapter can supply some of these hours for you through attendance at monthly meetings or participation in special events, such as webinars, workshops, and the ICF-CO Conference. If you anticipate needing CCEs, you can register to receive them when you sign up on our website to attend any of our events for which CCE's are being offered. Even if you’re not currently pursuing credentialing (or advanced credentialing), we suggest that you request the CCE certificate whenever the option is offered, and keep it on file for later use, as needed. You can also ask our Virtual Assistant, Kelly Johnson, to provide you with CCE certificates going back as far as two years previous (but no farther than two years). Kelly may be reached at 303-840-5994 or at kjohnson@cornerstoneva.com. Please allow at least two weeks advance notice to process your request. ICF Colorado Leadership Team
